Flash drive not recognized on mac - Sony Computers & Internet

mac should recognize it just fine. Did you format it to a file system mac would recognize?

The Powerbook G3 will be using the original USB architecture and I suspect that your flash drives are using USB 2 and are not backwards compatible, so sorry I don't really think it is possible.

Some flash drives need to be formatted for the the device that you use it on.
the Mac you are using it on may not recognize the device and see it as incompatible.

is it formatted in FAT or FAT32? in order to be recognized in mac you have to format in FAT32

If the flash drive are did not light up it posible have damage. Or your USB device are not recognize your flash drive.

When you want to exchange data between MAC and a PC the the storage device/flash drive must be formatted in FAT32 by the PC.
The MAC can read and copy FAT32 PC files, but if you format the storage device/flash drive that has been formated with the MAC, then only the MAC can read/write to this drive.

I found out that Mac G3's have an operating system that does not recognize the Flash drive technology because Flash drives came after the OS-9 software.

A flashing folder at startup means that the Mac doesn't recognize your system. This can be either a hardware or software problem. The hardware problem would be the hard drive, and the software the OS.
So these are the steps you should proceed: 1) Check your hard disk by using your install DVD (press the c key at startup), choose your language, go to the utilities menu and hit Disk utility. go to SOS tab and select your hard drive on the left. Click "repair volume" and check what happens.
2) reboot, if it does not recognize the system again, reinstall it using the "archive-install" option

run ur flash drive cd

do 1 thing plug it on a other PC or on a mac and see what happens !!

then format the volume..
