Question about Microsoft Wireless Optical Notebook Mouse 4000

MS Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000 won't scroll in Word 2007

I've had this mouse for a few years now and all of it's functions worked fine with Word XP (not to mention all the other Office XP programs). Just last year, I decided to upgrade just the Word program to Word 2007. Once I got the program installed, I noticed all the functions excet the vertical and side scroll works with Word 2007. The scrolling works just fine with all of my other computer programs. I'd like to figure out some kind of solution to make the scrolling work in the program. Is there a setting I can change to get it to scroll in Word 2007?

I appreciate the help. The exception button is called settings under the buttons tab on my computer. I didn't even realize what that was until you told posted a solution. I had to try a few different configurations for the scroll button, but I eventually got it to work. Thanks for the help Dudeman321.

I take back what I said. I don'tsee a mouse manager in the add/remove programs and adding an exception didn't work, if that settings button is the exception button. I'm still having problems getting it to scroll

Finally got the scroll working. I don't know how, but it is. Thanks.

1. Goto COntrol Panel > Mouse properties
2. Then goto wheel tab - exception
3. Then add the programs that arent working.
4. Click apply then ok.

If you don't have the exception area in the mouse properties. Then goto add/remove programs and remove the mouse manager that came with the mouse.
One of these solutions should fix your problem.

    No probs glad to help

Look for the intellipoint software in the add/remove programs list if its there get rid of it.

Maybe you needed to reboot after adding those exceptions? The only thing that can really create this problem is a mouse manager. So the solution is to either setup an exception e.g. the manager is not used for those programs or remove the manager altogether. The problem is its not always clear which program is the mouse manager as its not just called that. On my laptop its the "Synaptics pointing device driver"

Microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse quit working

You may have a bad mouse.

Try the mouse on another computer. Since it's a microsoft product it should install automatically just fine. It'll either work or it won't If it doesn't call Microsoft. The mouse has a warranty and MS will replace it. I was in a similar situation with a MS mouse and they sent me a new device. I did not have to send the bad device in and I got the replacement in a couple of days.

Assign a keystroke to the mouse, in this instance I assigned 'p' for pan (as per the .pgp file short cuts etc) against the scroll wheel click.

Click the scroll wheel, 'p' comes up on the cad screen, right click to confirm then the pan icon appears, hold the left mouse button and drag at your leisure. Yet to find a fix for Inventor.

Not ideal, but better than nothing at presnt.

I have already broken two of them. It seems that the receiver is very sensitive to hits. Probably a PCB issue. I disassembled the receiver and discovered that if I bend it a little it starts working but if I leave it stops.
