Internal sound card doesn't work...

I've downloaded all the most up-to-date drivers for the RealTek AC97 audio and still no audio device is detected on my Sound and Audio Devices Properties in the control panel. I downloaded the High Definition AC97 drivers at the suggestion of another on this board to no avail. I've also checked the status of the sound in the BIOS and the AC97 peripheral is set to Auto. There are only two options for the AC97 available: Auto and Disabled. I tried installing a PCI sound card to get this to work and still no audio device available even though it installed correctly. A tech support guy from the place I bought the motherboard says it's an OS issue with Windows XP. Is that possible? I'm completely lost on this...please help!!! Thanks!

Tell you what, try the new High defenition audio drivers from Realtek. it's available on their homepage. That's been a big problem, due to the lack of information (can you beleve that!) from Realtek. HD drivers are preparation for windows of as the name sais High Defenition sound. After that normaly windows (XP) gets everything done by itself.

No sound

The designation -> AAC72418-109 - is also an Intel D865GVHZ motherboard,

Download AND install the Audio drivers, Bill.

Under the - Latest Downloads - heading, you can see the blue -
Automatically detect and update drivers and software.

IMHO you should MANUALLY download AND install.
This method works everytime.

On the Download Drivers page, you are required to choose your Operating System.

Since this wasn't stated, I'm going to choose Windows XP Home Edition for an example,

4 Drivers listed. Only ONE Audio driver;
Audio: Realtek AC97 Audio Driver

Click on the blue - Realtek AC97 Audio Driver

To the right of - Version - click on the blue -

Click in the empty circle to the left of -
I accept the license terms in the agreement

A small window will come up -
Opening AUD_ALLOS_5.10.0.6020_PV_RealtekAC97.exe
Click on Save File.

A small download window will come up. Allow the file to download all the way, then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.
At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on -
Next, Next, and Finish.

If you are not asked to restart your computer, close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Restart your computer.

Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart ]

No Sound icon in your desktop system tray, at the bottom of the Windows screen?
Go to > Start > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices, and click on it.

Click on Sounds and Audio Devices.
Under the blue subheading - Device volume, left-click in the small empty square box, to the left of -
Place volume icon in the taskbar.

Now click on Apply, then on OK.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

[Still no? Then suggest your audio chipset on the motherboard, (Integrated Audio) is bad.
Purchase a 7.1 sound card that fits in a white PCI slot ]

The video card and audio card does not work

This is Intel's link for your board, You have Intel integrated graphics and Realtek ALC202A, AC97 for sound,
If you have upgraded to Windows 7, you can try Intel's generic drivers here:
You can try Realtek(sound) driver here also:
or here:
Intel does not have support for Windows 7 and your board. If you have not upgraded to Windows 7, the Intel link should work for you. Make sure to check in "device manager" to make sure your devices are enabled.

AC 97 sound card chip was made by Realtek. You can download the device driver from the website below. Just pick your operating system.
The driver should work as long as you are using AC97 sound chip even for other motherboard brands using this chip.

I did not find a Biostar motherboard model number I945C-M7B or 945GC-M7 on Biostars web site.
I did come across a Biostar 948GC-M7 TE MB;
Create a folder on you're desktop and name it RealTek. Under, On-Board Audio: Download the audio program that matchs you're current operating system. (Windows XP, Vista, Win 2000 ECT).
Once downloaded run the WDM_R236.exe file. Find the Readme.txt for instructions on how to install/uninstall the Realtek audio driver software.

If you can locate the chipset on the mainboard for the sound card.
then download driver from other manufacturer ..
You will see for eg Intel ac97 or realtek audio something like that..
For your mainboard configuration it may be
Realtek Audio driver

Realtek AC'97 driver

Before installing the AC97 software drivers, open System than click the Hardware tab than click Device manager. Scroll down to Sound, video & game controllers. Do you see a yellow ! point? If so than your drivers do need to be reinstalled. I could send you to Asus's site but they are a bit out dated so go here for updated drivers. The first one listed under Description will do just fine.
When you open the sound, video & game controller find AC97 & uninstall by right clicking on AC97 & uninstall. Only the AC97, leave the rest alone. Restart the PC than install the new drivers that you saved to your hard drive.
Check driver installed by opening controll panel than open Sound & Audio Device icon. Under Audio tab Realtek AC97 should be listed than click the Voice tab & the same should be listed.
Test both Audio & Mic functions. If either fail your intergrated controller could be defective. Lets hope everything works fine.
