Memory card door fails to snap closed

The memory door fails to click shut on my camera, thus rendering it unusable without the use of "duct tape". Is this a difficult part to replace? Thank you for your help.

SOURCE: Memory card

Before replacing the card, try to use another card and see if the problem is the card or the camera. This type of card is extremely sensitive, so you should ask yourself if there is a possibility that it has been damaged. Usually there is no reason for the card to stop working after a year.

You can transfer the photos directly from the camera to the PC using the USB cable that came with the camera. You don't need to transfer the pics to memory card first.

Connect the cable to the camera and the PC. Turn on the camera and your PC will recognise it as an external storage device. Use the PC's software to transfer the photos from camera to PC.

Once you have the pics on the PC you can use the Olympus Master software included with the camera to edit and archive the photos on the PC.

Camera shows write protect when open

When what is open? Always keep the battery / memory card door closed. If it is not closed correct, the camera won't work as expected. To protect the file system, when someone should pul out the memory card, while the camera is accessing the memory, it will or shut down completely, or at least protect the memory card against writing to it.
Before opening the battery / memory card cover, always make sure the camera is completely shut off. That means no light is allowed to burn or flicker. The memory card can also be write protected (SD cards) when the lock switch is down like in the picture on the 32GB card.
Before you can make any picture the switch on the card should be up like on the 64GB card on the picture. 3635bcf4-65df-478c-a04d-92e341d15860.jpg

Got a new memory card for my camera and im getting an "Out of Memory" warning

Most digital cameras will work with only with specific memory cards. You can't just buy any old card and expect it will work in your camera. Approved cards for Nikon E5700 are listed on page 159 of the English version manual. (In the Technical notes.) Also, if you insert or remove the memory card with the power on it could render the card unusable and, of course, you must insert the card in the correct orientation.
I assume you have not taken a heap of images in high resolution and simply filled your new card.

Installing SD Memory Card

Your camera has a memory card slot that enables you to insert any "SD" compatible memory card up to 8BG. Adding a memory card will allow you to increase the capacity of your camera before you have to transfer photos and videos to your PC. Install the SD memory card as below:

  1. Locate the Memory Card slot within the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the Memory card into the slot in the correct direction. (see the sketch below)

  1. Push the card in until you feel it "click" into position. The top of the card should be flushed with the surface of the camera. An icon will appear on the LCD screen after you turn on your camera.
  2. Once the external memory card is inserted into the camera all the images taken with the camera will be stored on the card.

Note:

  1. Limited internal memory is provided for test images. The image will be deleted when camera power is turned off. Please download the images before power off .SD memory card is required for normal use.
  2. An external memory card is required for normal use. Your camera supports any compatible SD memory card (up to 8GB).
  3. If there is a photo in the internal memory when you insert the card into your camera, a "Copy to card" message will appear on the LCD with Yes or No options. On selecting 'Yes' the photo will now be copied to your card.
  4. Formatting will delete all data on the SD memory card including protected data.
8
  1. Don't remove the SD card during formatting as this may damage the card and render it unusable.
  2. When your card is full, download the media on the SD card to your PC and delete the photos and videos from it in order to continue using your

My old memory card all of a sudden reads unusable, So i bought a new one...and it still says unusable... what do i do? I have only had the camera for 4 months

Try putting the new memory card into the camera and format the card. If the camera doesn't accept that it has a memory card turn the camera off remove the battery and then after about ten seconds put the battery back in and turn it on and see if you can format the new card again. You should always format the memory cards in the camera, even though there is a delete for single images leave them on the card and format the card. Always format the card in the camera not the computer.
By deleting single images in on the card while in the camera it sets up little partitions and pretty soon the memory card is rendered useless. Formatting in the computer writes a little program to the card which the camera can not read.

Receiving message ''card door open'', Unable to resolve.

The problem you are describing is a problem with the sensor on the card cvover door. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced.

Based on what you report the camera would need to be serviced. Regretfully all parts, accessories and repair service have been discontinued due to the age of the camera.
You may refer to the yellow pages for local camera repair centers who maybe able to offer parts and service on the camera.
As a loyal Olympus customer, the Customer Service Department is also available to discuss other options available to you.
They can be reached Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM until 7:00PM East Coast time, at: 1(800)622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.

Don't force it. It could be that your memory card is in backwards. This is a common cause for your battery door to not shut.

Hope this helps!

Memory card wont lock in

its because the spring whick locks the memory card has some fault thus it will lock only if given a force which keeps it in place thus the battery cover is providing that force and this can be left as such no problem will be there and can be rectified by visiting an auth. technician and repairing it
