SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite A205-S4777 Camera help

sounds like the camera wires are broken. you would have to take apart the screen portion of the laptop to see if it is connected still. you would then have to splice the wires together if they are broken/damaged

SOURCE: can i connect toshiba satellite a205 to tv?

Yes VGA carries RGBHV--RGB and Horizontal and Vertical Sync information along with DDC info where available.

Now is that port on your TV a d-sub 15 pin standard VGA connector?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

If it is, then yeah you should be able to output VGA from a PC to the TV with a proper cable.

However if the TV has DVI or HDMI connections on it, it's better for you to connect it that way. DVI/HDMI is a digital signal and if it's a digital-based display tech TV, then you're better off using that. Also if the TV does resolution above 1360x768 (i.e. if it does 1080p) you can get higher resolution by going via DVI/HDMI...

SOURCE: Toshiba satellite a205-s5804 laptop will not start

Hi, there are a couple of possibilities:
1. If you are able to start the laptop on battery then the dc connector on the motherboard may be broken or have come loose, in which case take it in for repair.
2. The power switch may be broken, again take it in for repair.
3. Tip of the trade: Disconnect the battery and plug in the charger, see if it will switch on. If not then put the battery back in with the mains still plugged in and see whether it springs back to life.
4. Tip of the trade 2: Leave well alone for a couple of days without any battery or power connected then plug back in and see if it will switch on.
Removing the BIOS memory, don't know where you saw that but not recommended at all unless you want to render your laptop completely useless. Don't attempt to strip down unless you are technically experienced with disassembling a laptop.

SOURCE: how to install windows 7 on Satellite A205-S5880

Hi,

To install Windows 7 no need for RAID driver. If you face issues in installing Windows 7 disable RAID in BIOS, install Windows 7 and then install RAID driver.

I have a Toshiba Satellite a205-s5000 that I replaced the power jack in. They sent me the wrong plug, mine was hard wired into the board so I cut and spliced the new plug to the wires coming out of th

Looking up the DC Power jack for this model, shows me a Center Pin, and cylindrical metal shell; inside the jack.
Center pin is Positive, cylindrical metal shell is Negative.

Also shows it to be a DC Power Harness. Wires connected to the jack, and end in a white plug; that plugs into the motherboard,

http://www.laptopjacks.com/view_part/Toshiba-Laptop-DC-Power-Jack-TS462625.html

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLPlSsEx5F4

Granted, the above is a A205-S4000 series.

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/big/toshiba-satellite-a200-a205-17.jpg

So...................
1) Am I to assume someone broke the female connector on the motherboard, that the DC Power Harness used to plug into?

Hard wired in this statement would reflect there was a DC Power Harness, soldered directly to the motherboard?

2) Or is your statement that the DC Power Jack itself, for your model; is soldered directly to the motherboard; and you hard wired the new jack in place; after cutting the plug off of the end of the new DC Power Harness? (And removing defunct DC Power Jack)

Plus; Is this an A205-s5000, or one of the A205-s5000 model series?
A205-s5800, A205-s5801, A205-s5803, A205-S5843, etc.

Yes.

Trying to figure out why this A205, has a DC Power Jack soldered directly to the motherboard, and is not using a DC Power Harness.

Why?

Have to make sure you are soldering to the right area, yet alone the correct contact points.

Don't know what I'm talking about? You unsoldered the DC Power Jack FROM the motherboard? Or the jack was soldered to wires, and wired to the motherboard.
Hardwired. The term can be used for either scenario.
That's the way it was originally?

K

Let's go on.

The DC Power Jack is connected to the DC to DC power circuit; on the motherboard. (Power/Charging circuit)
This circuit is near where the DC Power Jack is mounted, or where the DC Power Harness plugs in.

In the circuit are Surface Mount Devices that are prone to go bad.
One is the Power MOSFET's, the second are MLCC's.

(Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor.
They, and the P.MOSFET's, are SMD/SMT
Surface Mount Device/ Surface Mount Technology)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOSFET

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_MOSFET

Let's use the HP Pavilion dv6000 series, and Pavilion dv9000 series Notebook PC's, for an example,

http://mayohardware.blogspot.com/2010/04/important-parts-on-dv6000-and-dv9000.html

These series of Notebook PC's use the;
Fairchild Semiconductor International - FDS6679 - Power MOSFET, and the,
Alpha & Omega Semiconductor Limited - AO4407 - Power MOSFET.

Look at the second photo down, with the AO4407 circled in Yellow.
Immediately below it, (Right corner), and immediately to the right of the AO4407; are MLCC's.
Smaller rectangular object with a dark wide band in the middle of it.

There is one above the one, to the immediate right of the AO4407; one above it, one to the Right of the top one; and one to the right of it.
There are also 4 smaller examples to the bottom/left corner of the AO4407.

Look to see if any are burned/blackened.

Example of availability, and cost of FDS6679, and AO4407,

http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=FDS6679

Scroll down. One Dollar and one Cent, USD.

http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=AO4407

Here we see the AO4407 is phased out.
Using one of the cross-reference examples given,

78 Cents USD.

Just to show examples of MLCC's that are SMD/SMT.
The examples I chose are 4.7uf (MicroFarad), and 16 Volts. (DC)

When I plug rthe AC adapter the notebook hangs up

I recommend you isolate the problem first by trying to plug the AC adapter while in safe mode.to do this you need to restart your system while restarting keep on tapping the F8 key. choose safe mode first then press enter.plug the AC adapter. If it will do the same thing that it will hangup, you need to report this to Toshiba and have them replace the motherboard and AC adapter. If it works fine in safe mode. i recommend you reinstall your OS (vista xp win7).thanks

Whenever i use my laptop's powersupply, my laptop unit hangs. instead i could only use my laptop using the battery alone and not with the power supply provided. my laptops model is toshiba satellite...

Possible cause: 1. Power adapter failure.
2. Motherboard failure.
Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution: First of all, test the power adpater. Make sure the apdapter outputs correct voltage. It's possible that the outup voltage is not correct and the laptop shuts down to prevent the damge. Test your laptop with anohter known good power adapter.
If the problem still exists, even after replacing the adapter, most likley it's the motherboard failure. Replace the motherboard.

Seaching for audio driver for toshiba Satellite A205-S5814

Once in a blue moon, the driver that works in Vista will work in XP. Try a forced install. You can also Google the model of the sound card (motherboard if the sound is integrated) and see if there is a XP driver that way. Good luck.
