Question about Honeywell R7184B1024 Electronic Oil Primary is obsolete, click here to see options
It started with the 11 year old burner motor going out, I replaced it and the primary control, the box style, putting a new R7184B on, checking the everything else to insure no other problems, the burner would ignite and run 4-6 seconds, checking everything again it came down to the primary control, I put the second one on, with very few company's carrying parts for an oil burner everything had to be ordered, day 3, I had an old furnace in the shop, I took the primary control off of it and it has ran smoothly since. This is not the first time that I've had problems with these primary controls, I have always had to put an old style control on to get the burner to work. I have 3 heating and cooling friends with over 20 years experience have the same trouble with your R7184B primary conrtols. Why are you still pasting this controls off on the public ?

SOURCE: No heat!
I took your advice and got someone in this afternoon. He replaced the pump there and then and all is working well again. He charged £135 for the pump plus labour. It was the best price I could get after ringing around a few other companies. I wish I was a plumber and could charge prices like that!
Thanks a lot for your help.

SOund like you heating element has a open limit or the sequencer is bad. Another thing that it may be is the element wire has broken. Either way it sounds like you need a technician to come out and repair.

The Chrono Therm 3 and 4's were some of the worst products that honeywell has EVER put out. I would suggest switching to the Vision Pro 8000, please consult your local HVAC company for more information regarding the change over.
