Might be a mechanical issue with the drive itself. If you have the tools and the knowledge, you can try removing the optical drive and reseating it in the laptop (should only be held in place by 1, maybe 2 screws on the bottom). If that doesn't solve it, carefully try removing the faceplate and see if there's any debris or foreign substance that may be making contact with the area where the eject button would make contact with the drive, and using a q-tip, or non-conducive plastic object, try and remove the debris or substance gently (if using a q-tip, you can use a dab of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol). If this still doesn't resolve the issue, then it may be time to replace the optical drive, in which case you can get it replaced through your place of purchase, or through the manufacturer directly. Also, might be worthwhile to check and see if you're covered under warranty through either. If not, optical drives for laptops usually average between $60-90 USD for the part.

Emachine desktop pc dvd/cd drive keeps opening

Hi,

Here are a few possible solutions:

  1. Check your wiring and connections for cracks and dirt. Spray the connection and the tracking laser (looks like a little red or green led light) and wipe with a lint free paper towel.
  2. Have Microsoft perform a free diagnostic scan and fix. It requires only three easy clicks on your part. CLICK HERE.
  3. Replace the cd/dvd drive. A tutorial video is linked below.

Cannot open compact disccompartment

If you are trying to open it with the eject button and it does not work, you may have a faulty drive. To manually open the DVD compartment, take a paper clip, straighten it, then push it in the little whole next to the eject button, it should pop out the DVD compartment.

Sub-zero 500 series refrigerator door wont stay closed

If Your Refrigerator's Freezer Door Pops Open When You Close the Fresh Food Door... If a 'top-freezer' refrigerator's freezer door pops open when the larger fresh food door's closed, it's actually a good thing. That tells us the seals are in great shape, sealing well.
Some freezer door 'pop' is unavoidable bc the bottom door's so much larger than the top one and the hydraulic effect of compressing all that air kicks in. The two compartments share the same air via a duct between them, and that compressed air rushes up into the freezer compartment and can 'pop' the door.
To improve the situation, apply a few drops of oil (sewing machine oil or 'three in one' - NOT WD-40) to each freezer door hinge pin. (Even better: if you can, pull the doors and coat the hinge pins with petroleum jelly). This will help the freezer door swing back closed by itself. The freezer door usually stays ajar because it's binding a bit, and that's usually caused by it's swinging 'dry', with no lubrication.
It’s also a good idea to ‘kick’ the habit of letting the refrig door close hard.

My cd/dvd opens then closes

> I've already replaced it once

Well, I've seen CD-drives that would re-open, when you try to close them -- it is _falsely_ detecting a "jam" as the tray is closing, and then just re-opens the tray, rather than "forcing" itself to close.

Replacing the CD-drive is the only way to fix that type of "false-positive" jam-detection conditions.

But, since you've done that, either you were unlucky-enough that the replacement drive was also "defective", or, you have a computer-virus on your computer that is maliciously issuing commands to the CD to "open-the-tray".
