Question about La Pavoni Espresso Si PAB-16 Espresso Machine

Pavoni Si - leak from above filter holder

I just got a "new" Pavoni Espresso Si machine but when I make the espresso, water leaks out from the top of the filter holder (where the filter holder attaches to the main plastic part of the machine) and also from the crack just above the Pavoni seal on the front of the main part of the machine. Any ideas? Also - a question - how hard are you supposed to turn the porto-filter in the holder? just till it locks or further? I can push it quite far but am not sure if I need to.

Re: Pavoni Si - leak from above filter holder

Check your screws in the bottom of the portafilter, If they are too tight the spring mechanism inside can't do its job, adjust them and it should work. Also, don't over fill your portafilter, if you put too much coffee in then there is to much pressure and again the water will flow from the top. Hope this helps

When pulling coffee by opening valve, water leaks from spindle. Safety valve is leaking?

in the system you have 2 safety valves. one for tank other for coffee boiler. the coffee boiler safety valve should be set at 12 bar. if safety valve of boiler is leaking try resetting or changing rubber than setting.
ps: do not touch the tank safety valve, only change it with new, tested and sealed one.

My Pavoni Pro started leaking water from its base. It doesn't let steam escape, and it still makes espresso, but water leaks out slowly I guess from the base (like 1 cup per hour or so). Is it a gasket or...

You most likely need a boiler gasket

Steam Wand Leaking on La Pavoni Espresso Si

I HAD the same problem. I fixed it for 50 cents. It takes the removal of 4 screws (2 phillips on top, 2 long standard on bottom by the group) to remove the top to access the steam wand valve. Once the the top (and the chrome bezel) is removed, then screw out the valve counterclockwise buy ALL THE WAY until it comes out. There are 2 O-rings on the stem of the valve that wear out, Cut these off with a sharp knife, go to your local hardware store, buy 2 new ones for 50 cents, install new O-rings, and reverse the disassembly procedure. Voila, no more leaky steam valve!

When the pump is activated by the coffee switch the pressure builds up but no coffee comes out the bottom, hot water leaks over the top of the portafilter and runs down the outside.

Hi there it sounds like the pressurised handle has a blockage in it or your coffee is too finely ground. The handle is spring loaded as well so make sure when you push the handle over to the right that the actual handle comes back to the centre so to open the inside to allow coffee through. If blocked try putting the head of the handle into a solution of descaler.

Water leaking from the group

Hi there,
You can buy a service kit for your machine at and that contains all replacable gaskets and washers and gives you an exploded diagram and sachet of grease and descaler to get your machine back in as new working order. The service kit you require is the "old group service kit" and is about £20. If you go to the website above and click on the la pavoni machine on the right hand side of the home page it will give you the full parts list.

Breville Die Cast 800ESXL has a silicon seal (steam ring) to replace faulty or worn ones. There is no shipping charge, and they are $4 each. To replace the steam ring you'll need to remove the stainless spray disk on the brew head with a phillips screwdriver (one screw) and pull off the old ring (pay attention to the direction and placement of the stainless disk).  Takes about 2 minutes to do.
Part # .800ESXL/192

Also, on mine I noticed that the filter holder was ground down at the factory a bit too much on one side, which causes a slight leak down one side (coffee, not water).  You might check the holder (with the filter removed) for imperfections that could lead to your leak. Good luck.
