Question about Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Comfort Edition

1 Answer

About 2% of my letters are not showing up when typing.

Whenever writing text, I lose some of my letters, which is very frustrating. I tried moving the receiver with limited success. I tried replacing the batteries even though they were only 1 month old, but that did'nt help either. I was going to reinstall the software but my computer said this version was already running. Any ideas?

Please don't bother your what your computer says. Just re-install the driver and restart.

You can also download a latest version and install it.

What does the insert key do?

Press and the text you type will over write what ever you have on the screen. This is typically used in most applications to "type over" existing text without moving the other letters/numbers/characters around.

This is my example of how the insert key works.
hit the insert key and position your cursor at the "w" in works.
Now type WOW!!.
You should now have:
This is my example of how the insert key WOW!!.

Clever these programmers. :)

Keep in mind it depends on the application you are running also.
Have fun!

Hi. Whenever I type the letter 'i', I get the number 5

Is this a laptop or desktop. Either way, try a different keyboard. That will tell you if it is hardware or software. If it happens on another keyboard, resubmit your help request with that info.

Locked keyboard buttons

If the wrong characters appear when you are typing or you are trying to use a keyboard that is different than the one that came with the computer, use the following steps to synchronize Windows to the type of keyboard you have:
  1. Click Start c01311982.gif , and type region into the Start Search field.
  2. Select the Keyboards and Languages tab.
  3. Click Change Keyboards .
A Text Services and Input Languages window opens.
    Figure 3: Change Keyboard button
  4. Click Add .
    Figure 4: Add button
  5. Select the keyboard(s) you want to use and click OK .
Figure 5: Add input language: US Dvorak keyboard selected.
The new keyboard is added to the list of available keyboards and a keyboard icon appears on the system tray, allowing you to switch between the keyboard that you want to use with the mouse.
    Figure 6: Keyboard tray icon
  6. From the Text Services and Input Languages window, select the new keyboard in the list and click Move up until it is first in the list. This makes it the default keyboard.
    Figure 7: Move up button
  7. Click OK . You can now use the new keyboard. If you find that the new keyboard works well and you do not want to use the other keyboard, repeat these steps and Remove the keyboard that you do not want from the General tab of the Text Services and Input Languages window.

KeyBoard problem

Don't thank people in advance, show some patience!  Use a different keyboard, obviously!  Clean out the old one (sponge-bath method) so the keys aren't stuck together...or of course it could be a problem deeper in the keyboard, depending on what kind it is.  Which is why you should create problems in non-generic categories.

you may have turned on click-lock. You can disable this feature in Control Panel, under Accessibility Options. Click Lock helps people who have a hard time holding the mouse button while dragging the mouse across the screen by holding the mouse button for them
