How do i put the nail pusher spring back in the hitachi framing nail gun

Remove all bolts holding the rails to the body of the gun (make note of the position of the parts as you take then off ). Slide out the pusher assmbly. If the spring is good (wound tightly and has the bolt hole), hold the pusher assmbly in hand and attach spring to body of gun leaving bolt loose. Slide the pusher back into the rails and attach rails to body of gun up against the bolt (snug down bolt and check spring action). Re-attach rails to gun. Some after market rails do not have the slot cut into front allowing easy install of spring (cut slot with dremel). Good luck

My 95 rodeo is ticking and i thought it was the timing tension pulley so i pulled it off but its still good is there a spring that puts tension on it

The tension pulley for the timing belt does not use a spring. There is a self-contained hydraulic PUSHER that is mounted to the left of the crankshaft pulley that engages the tension pulley.

If you pulled the tension pulley off and can't remount it, you will need to remove this pusher, retract the pin, hold it in place with a 1.5mm allen wrench, reinstall the tension pulley, reinstall the pusher, then remove the 1.5mm allen wrench to set the tension again.

Make sure the timing belt is still in the right place by looking at the markers at the crank and cam shaft areas.

The original ticking noise was probably from the valves needing reworked.

I have an older FR350 nailer. The coil return spring broke. I have the replacement and want to fix it. Do I have to take the whole nail guid assembly off to replace this part!

The best way to replace the spring is to remove the rails entirely. Take closeup photos of the gun from all sides with your digital camera or camera phone to help you with placement of all screws. You will need small clamp, small vicegrips and paperclip or piece of soft wire with small hook bent on one end to temp hold spring in place. With rails in hand check if pusher will slide out front of rails (some rails have a small casting preventing pusher from coming out front ~ remove tailpiece and slide out back ). Locate small screw /nut holding spring in place (keep this side of rails facing you). With new spring in place slide pusher into rails until you can catch the eye of the spring with bent wire at front of rails. While holding wire with vicegrip pull back pusher a few inches and clamp in place with c-clamp. Pull or let in bent wire to align eye of spring to attachment hole and install screw (you can leave bent wire in eye and just break off later. With screw attached break off wire and install rails to gun. Check sliding action of pusher before installing bolts at rear of rails. The pusher on some porter cable guns have plastic sliders that easily break with normal use and should be replaced as needed. Good luck.

I took my Hitachi NR83A apart to remove a jambed nail, and can not figure out how it goes back togeather. Where does the tension apparatice go inrelation to the shaft and slide handle? Thanks Vince

You do not need any special tools to assemble the pusher into the rails, however there is a trick to getting the spring in the proper position. I use a small pair of vice grips and a paper clip to hold the spring in position. The pusher slides into the rails easily. The back part of the pusher slides into the rails first. On the back part of the pusher there is a groove that accepts the spring, spring spool and pin. The pin will be in a vertical position and the spring will have the end tab with hole towards you. As you push this assembly into the rails you will loose sight of the spring end tab. You must hold the spring end tab at the bolt hole while you push in the assembly. This is done by bending the paperclip straight with very small hook on one end. Hook paperclip on spring tab hole and hold paperclip with vicegrip to position spring tab hole at bolt hole and push assembly all the way into rails untill it locks at rear or rails. This procedure can be varried with goal of holding spring tab at bolt hole. While holding tab in position insert rails into nose of gun and bolt rails. Just leave paper clip hook end there or pull out it does not matter. You are done. Good luck

¡Buena suerte!

Inspect and replace the pusher and the pusher springs in the magazine. This will usually solve the problem.

Swingline Stapler Staples Only After You Open It Up....

When you lift up the top of the stapler (as though you are going to put staples in), does the pusher slide freely back and forth? It might be getting stuck at some point and not pushing the staples (either due to a worn pusher spring, or friction). First (after removing the staples) try spraying some light oil on the mechanism and lifting the top part of the stapler up and down a few times and observe how easily it moves back and forth. Also, with the top open try GENTLY sliding back and forth a little - if it slides fine with no sticking, try loading staples and using stapler. If it slides ok, but doesn't quickly return to it's "normal position" when pulled so as to put tension on the spring, rhen the spring may be worn and need replacing.
