Question about Weather King Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I have a Weather King furnace. Model 80PJ07EBR01. Apon call for heat, the IFC powers up (green light) Then the inducer doesn't kick on. with out that negative pressure, the vent pressure switch wont close. The vent is clean. I tested the vent switch by removing the rubber hose and blowing into it while using a digital mutli meter to test impedence. It passed. I'm looking at the IFC as the problem. Am I correct?

SOURCE: Goodman: My Power Venter (aka Heat and Draft Inducer) won't start

The power ventor most likely needs to be replaced. But be advised. Goodman normally will not sell parts to anyone but a certified technician. I had to show my masters certificate to buy parts from their outlet. This is a part that has a high rate of failure.

If it is making noise, the motor may be ready to give out. The pressure switch could be faulty, but it sounds as if you need to replace the vent motor if you can find a replacement. Otherwise you've got to replace the entire vent.

SOURCE: Furnace blows cold air, ignitor won't glow.

ok this is going to sound funny but it seems as though the polarity is reversed going into your furnance. to correct this proiblem you first need to unplug the unit and where the cord goes into the furnance at that connection disconnect the two wires. Once theses are disconnected switch the wires .All you are doing is reversing the way the electricity flows into the circut board. I would wager that is the problem

SOURCE: Induced Draft Blower Not Blowing- 3 Blinks on LED

Your doing well just right. When the call for heat is on the draft motor gets a call from the board to come on. When this happens if no voltage is present at the motor then you ahve abad baord. Replace it.

SOURCE: I have a Rudd furnace

Well first you want to verify that there is gas pressure coming from the connector. Turn off the valve and disconnect the connector. Then turn on the valve for 1 second and back off. You should get plenty of gas flow. Be careful doing this!. Then inspect the opening at the adapter to the control. There is a screen inside there. Make sure the screen is clear(not plugged with pipe dope, lint ect). When the igniter reaches the 2200 degrees you should hear the gas solenoid valve click open releasing gas. If you hear it click and no gas is released you will need to inspect the burner orfices. The orfice has an extremely small hole and there is a posibillity that they are plugged with debris. You will need to use a very small wire(like a tie strap) and insert it into each hole and see if there is anything in the orfice. If you do not hear the gas valve click then it might not be getting the signal it needs due to a weak igniter or flame rectification sensor. Does your furnace have a stand-by pilot that is lit by the hot surface igniter or does the igniter directly light the burner assembly?

LOCATION OF 62-24164-01 IGNITOR ON WEATHER KING FURNACE

Who knows? You gotta post a video of your furnace so we can see what you got. Here is the sequence of operation of a late model furnace. they all basically work the same way. They have a draft inducer fan that causes a vacuum in a small hose leading to the pressure switch. If the board reads negative pressure it know the draft motor is working and pulling a draft it then cause the ignitor to kick in and after a minute opens the gas valve. It wait a sec to verify flame with the flame sensor and then if that flame is there it keeps burning and after 30 more seconds the fan kicks in.
Most of the time if the ignitor ain't workin it is either bad or a limit has tripped due to some sort of overheat problem like birdnest or cobwebs and such.

The crossover part of the burners are dirty and need to be cleaned, usually spider webs or dirt get stuck there and wont allow the gas to get to the other burners and the furnace will shut off for safety. Also the orifice that allows gas to the burners can be clogged with dirt or spider webs. If you are comfortable with working on it then you can do it yourself, however if you are not then call a hvac technician. Just remeber to turn off gas and power before working on it.

I have a weather king model 90RJ - first time I've had hot air heat..When I turn on the heat, the blower turns on right away ( blowing cold air) - I understand that the ducts have to cleared of the cold...

When the furnace first comes on there is a induced draft motor that should come on first but that forces air up the exhaust or flue, not into supply air on ductwork. It is not unusual for cold air to be blown out when burner first turns blower motor on. This should last for a short period of time, no more than a min. or two. You can watch furnace cycle by removing top front cover, I should back up here and ask is this a gas or electric unit. If it is gas you should be able to watch burner flames for a short time before blower comes on. I really need more information so I can try to ascertain what is going on. Wish I could be more help. Thank you.

You probably have a shorted wire between the heater and the a/c. There are two wires that conncet the control power to the outdoor a/c from the heater they should be on terminal c & y in the heater. disconect those two wires and try it again if the fuse doesnt blow you have a short in the wire between the a/c & heater

Unit works with short cycling

sounds like its tripping a limit switch or if it has a flame rod .you may need to clean it. Possibly tripping the high limit due to dirty filter. usually has a diagnostic sheet on one of the panels that will tell you what is going on check the panel you see the light closest to.

PLEASE rate this it matters to fixya alot.

I'm trying to figure out if our Weather King system has a heat pump... how do I tell?

Your indoor furnace is weather king? If you have a a/c unit outside, it could be a heat pump, but you have to provide the model number on it.. If you do have a unit outside, when you call for heat does the outdoor unit kick on?
