When you decide to activate your Windows XP, do it by phone rather than online.

My windows validation failed... what i must to do?

1)
start > run > "regedit" (without the quotes of course)
2) go to
the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows

NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents\OOBETimer
...and doubleclick on it.
Then change some of the value data to ANYTHING
ELSE...delete some,
add some letters, I don't care...just change it!
now close out
regedit.
3) go to start > run >
"%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a" (again,
dont type the
quotes)
4) the activation screen will come up, click on register over
telephone,
then click on CHANGE PRODUCT KEY, enter in this key:

JG28K-H9Q7X-BH6W4-3PDCQ-6XBFJ.
Now you can dl all the updates
without activating, and the Genuine Microsoft
Validation thingy
won't bug you no more!!

please don't post product key numbers as they are personal and purchased by you; and likely to be used by people who install pirated versions of windows. If you are getting a pop up on boot up saying your copy of windows is not genuine, then you must take it back to the seller, or if it's second hand then the previous owner has installed the system using the incorrect product key. If your product key is genuine then do the following and use your product key. Click on Start and then Run. In the text box in the Run window, type regedit and click OK. This will open the Registry Editor program. Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder under My Computer and click on the (+) sign next the folder name to expand the folder. Continue to expand folders until you reach the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents registry key. Click on the WPAEvents folder. In the results that appear in the window on the right, locate OOBETimer. Right-click on the OOBETimer entry and choose Modify from the resulting menu. Change at least one digit in the Value data text box and click OK. This will deactivate Windows XP. Click on Start and then Run. In the text box in the Run window, type the following command and click OK. %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a When the Windows Product Activation window appears, choose Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows and then click Next. Click Change Product Key. Type your new, valid Windows XP product key in the New key text boxes and then click Update. If you're taken back to the previous screen and prompted, choose Remind me later. Restart your PC.
