Question about Samsung SyncMaster 193P 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Black Out After 2 years of usage, 4 days ago, my monitor went down. Description: If the monitor is connected to the computer, the whole screen appears with vertical stripes, varying from approximate 1/4" to 3" and moving randomly along the monitor. The color of the stripes changes all the time depends on the program window open on the computer(Tested with another monitor). If the monitor is not connected to the computer, a vertical ~3" white stripe appear in the middle of the screen. After approximate 30 sec. the white stripe changes in 3 other small stripes(red, green, blue) at ~1/4" each, remaining on the same vertical position, and then static. In my opinion I need another monitor, or?? Thank You Detrix

Re: Black Out

Hi Detrix, Check with if you want a repair. Something is wrong with your LCD controller and or GUI interface circuit or the circuit supplying power to it. If your technically endowed, you may want to open the monitor case and clean the dust and lint from around the circuits using a Small paint brush to sweep away any built up dust. These circuits take the Signal from the computer and controls the 2.5 million pixels on the LCD screen. Dsut can cause major problems with handling all that data. Give it a shot, what do you have to loose, its not dangerous if the monitor is unplugged.

I have 2 monitors connected to 1 computer using a

satservice, What happens AFTER 15 min of FLASHING?? What did unit do or act like 3-4 weeks ago? Is the screen both BLACK and BLANK? or is screen just black and you can SEE win-desktop if you shine a bright flashlight 1 inch from screen at differnt angles? Can you use your Samsung warranty? Will monitor do same when connected to different KNOWN GOOD prebooted to desktop PC? Are you refering to the "power ON" indicator light on front BEZEL as the FLASHING thing? Need more info, but I suspect "shutdown of units "switch-mode-power-supply" due to detection of FAULT CONDITION having been detected with other circuit or with itself. 2 monitors down in 2 days! Planned Obsolescence?

It could be a computer problem
The only way would be to test the computer on another monitor and the current monitors on another computer.
Then you will see which has failed.

2-3-4- years old benq FP19G = returned to office after lunch - burned out electronic smell in air - whole section of office electrically dead' - did reset = computer fired up ok - but screen blank...

Benqs have had some quality control issues but from your description the inverter board went on you. It needs to be replaced or repaired. Expect to spend about $100 for the repair so you may want to consider just replacing the monitor.

They can be fixed. The monitor I am using right now was one of those dead ones. It took a few hours to find as the rest checked out and it turned out to be a bad ground. Unfortunately when you smell burnt electronics you are not going to get off that easy.

Blank screen on AL 2223W

When you switch on the computer and monitor does the monitor power light illuminated?
If not check the power cable, if the power light is on try connecting it to another computer, if it works on another computer then the fault is in your computer or a faulty video cable (try another video cable).
If the monitor does not work then it is faulty, if it is OK then your computy is faulty.

If the fault is in your computer, you didn't exactly pinpoint the nature of your fault.
Does the power light on your computer illuminated when you power up?
Does your computer actually boot up, does it give and beep code (count the number of beeps - 7 beeps usually means video problems, depends upon the type of BIOS)?
When your computer first boots up and you see POST information on the screen then nothing, it is most likely :-
1. The refresh rate of the video card has been set too high beyond the monitor's specification.
2. Video card configured with incompatible monitor.

If you computer fires up and the monitor is OK the you have a faulty graphics card, you need to replace it.

Monitor went black

Same with mine a couple days ago. I've been told the contacts have oxidized and need to be cleaned. It was going to cost about $80 to fix and no guarantee how long it would last so I just bought a new monitor.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

I start my computer and turn it on, and everything looks fine for about 1/4 of a second and then it goes black while leaving the power light green. I can only see the screen again after turning it off and on, but that's only for another 1/4 second. What's up?
I got my rosewill flatscreen as a hand me down from my father. I've had it for several years now. Was working fine until a month ago. When I turn the computer on the screen goes black after 1/4 of a saecond. I have to turn it off and on anywhere from 10 to 20 times before it stays on. I have checked all plugs to the computer and outlets. I have absolutely no idea whats causing this.

Connect it to another PC, if you get the same result, the problem is the backlight, they go all of the time. I am constantly repairing these things in stores.
