Thermostat has no power

I think that most likely shorted out your low voltage transformer. Transformer is most likely located in air handler. You may find a blown fuse for transformer or bad transformer.

My house was struck by lightning most of all my computers and tv's and phones are no working and my ac is not coming on at all. What happen to my AC unit

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

The main Preinted circuit board (PCB) most likely has had a failure of the small PCB transformer. This is the most susceptable component (PCB transformer) in the Air Conditioner. Within the last 60 days I have personally experienced the exact same symtom. I replaced the PCB transformer and 1 diode on the main PCB of the air-conditioner and my AC unit is working fine. Unless you can find a source for the transformer your only option is to replace the PCB (Board).

Finding the exact transrformer for the PCB can take a very long time. It iwll look similar to this one:

If you have home owners insurance ALL STATE and State Farm often cover this type of damage. It is worth the time to find out if you are a home owner.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

There is nothing on the display, conditioner is death. The power is coming, fuse on the PCB is OK?

Check power to transformer (220volts---24/12volts Dc) which leads to function PCB. If 24 or 12 dc is o.k, then you have replace PCB only.If no output of DC, replace transformer. Thanks.

No power to the thermastat

There is either no power to the air handler or the transformer has burned out...

The power to the t-stat comes from there....if your lucky the transformer is fused and the fuse has blown...if you replace it and it blows again then check for a short in the low voltage...

No voltage from 24 volt transformer power in no power out .

The transformer is burnt out... you will need to replace it... this is common and they burn out easily if a low voltage wire it shorted even for a split second, or if there is a brown out...

They best way to prevent this is by installing a 5 amp fuse ahead of the transformer in the high voltage line so that it blows before the transformer goes...

Is there a breaker on unit 9000 itself. i changed the thermastat there was a spark and now it dont work. is there some kind of reset button??model num;ca9036vk92

It sounds like you shorted the transformer. You can check at the transformer for a control fuse - alot of time there is not one and the transformer must be replaced.

I tried changing the thermostat (unsuccessfully) and may have blown a transformer. My AC unit will not turn on. Is this an inexpensive repair?

If you did not turn off power and or have a hot wire touching a common wire you blew the transformer. There is a possibility your air handler has a 3 amp fuse on a control board. Check it first. If it is OK,replace the transformer.
