The software is outdated. Get a newer version and verify before buying that it is compatible with Windows 64 bits.

You are trying to run a 32bit version program on a 64bit system, this is not allowed. Try obtaining the 64bit version of the program and load that or alternatively try CutePDF, it works well on any system.

Officially MS says it's not support, and Epson does not have an updated driver. Sorry.
If I'm running a 64-bit version of Windows, do I need 64-bit drivers for my devices?

Yes, all hardware devices need 64-bit drivers to work on a 64-bit version of Windows. Drivers designed for 32-bit versions of Windows won't work on computers running 64-bit versions of Windows.

Description: This file contains the Epson Stylus NX230 Printer Driver v6.91. The Epson Status Monitor 3 is incorporated into this driver.

Hello - You have the idea of the nature of 32/64 bit operating systems somewhat confused. 32-bit does not mean it is inherently downwardly compatible with 64-bit. To the contrary, much 32-bit software is not compatible.

64-bit versions of Windows try automatically to run in a 32 bit compatibility mode called WOW64. It couldn't work with Arcview. The actual problem with 3.x is that it has a 16-bit installer and no 16-bit software will run on a 64-bit OS. I checked at the ESRI website and the issue has not been fixed.

If Arcview is essential for you to run then it could be addressed by making your system dual boot between 32/64 bit Windows versions.

Thanks for using Fix Ya

Trying running the Install program in Compatibility mode and running the program in Compatibility mode for Win XP it should allow that. If not it is going to be an issue of your using a 64 bit version of Windows now and your software was designed for a 32 or 16 bit environment. You could check the program manufacturer website to see if there is an update or patch for it as a last resort. 64 Bit versions of Windows don't like to cooperate with 16 and 32 bit programs even when they were programs designed to run on Windows as a platform.

unfortunately no, windows 64 bit doesn't support 32 bit or 16 bit applications so you should call the support number or go online to return the unsupported edition for a 64 bit edition (if they have one). Hope this helps.

Well I do know that "most" 32bit software can be installed on a 64bit windows, unfortunately this one maybe be an exception. I searched all over the maker's websites and could not find a single hint of 64 bit support. One other thing you might try is to right click on setup.exe and run as an administrator , but considering the error you are recieving I don't think it will help. I don't think it is possible, sorry.

You can try running the 16 bit app in compatibility mode. Right click on the app's exe, click on properties, and select compatibility, then tick the box labeled "run in compatibility mode", then select Windows 98 from the now available drop down box.

The four things that make 64-bit Vista inadvisable for ordinary users are:
1: No compatibility with old 16-bit Windows apps. This means ancient Windows 3.x software, which most people don't run any more, but 16-bit code can still pop up in the darndest places. Like, for instance, in the installer programs for other apps.
2: No automatic registry and file redirection, which is what 32-bit Vista uses to allow existing software to work with Vista's better user account security, even if the software wants to do admin-rights stuff to the registry and Program Files directory. Many apps still break in 32-bit Vista, but many more break in the 64-bit version.
3: No compatibility with existing 32-bit drivers. Everything on your computer will need a new driver. 64-bit WinXP is the same, and there aren't many 64-bit computers on which Vista won't at least install, but 64-bit Windows also has...
4: No support for unsigned drivers.
