Check Exposure compensation. If you have a negative number all photos can be dark with flash or no flash.

Perhaps the simplest way to solve this is to restore your camera to factory settings. I'm not familiar with your camera so I can't tell you where it is but it'll be in the menu somewhere.

Unless your camera's faulty, my guess is that one or both of the following settings have been changed.
(1) Exposure value or EV has been changed. This is useful at times when taking certain types of photos but in normal circumstances it means you end up with dark photos
(2) The flash has been turned off on your camera. On most cameras there are at least 3 options when it comes to the flash. Having it set to automatically go off if the camera thinks it's needed, the flash being used in all circumstances or the flash not used at all.

If you simply restore the camera to factory settings, it'll save a lot of searching through menus

Pictures very dark even with a light meter

Digital cameras operate on a delayed shutter. Your Camera and flash are not synchronized. Try adjusting flash to a slower speed. Or the cameras Fstop value to get them insync.

If you half push the shutter the rangefinder and focus circuits kick in and will adjust to available light and give you your best picture. Do not ever push the shutter in one step. press it slightly to get the best focus and then push the last millimeter to get the picture!

Nikon D60 is suddenly taking very dark pictures

I have had "dark pictures" from each of my Nikon DSLR (D70, D80, D200, D300) cameras usually when taking pictures from a tripod and/or the self timer. Situations where you take your eye away from the viewfinder which allows stray light to enter thru the viewfinder and throw the auto exposure way off. Not sure if this is what is happening to you.

I have the same problem at my church with the indoor lighting on my camera. I'm able to get it work by putting the whole thing on manual and adjusting the lighting settings that way.

Dark image....even using flash.

The problem here is likely the auto setting. Put it to sunny, clear day instead of indoor picture and you should be ok. Also, point it at neutral colored objects when you take the picture and allow it time to adjust by holding the button in partway before depressing it fully.
