I have cancelled many things on Amazon, but not a digital order. You should be able to go into your Amazon account and cancel that order. I don't know how they would even process a kindle book if you don't have a device.

1)Open a request: let the seller know you haven't received the item. Select "open a request" 2)Not resolved? If you're waiting for a response, you can check the status of your request. If you're not happy with the sellers resolution after three business days of opening your request. 3)We'll get your money back fast: You'll get an answer back within 2 days, and if your request qualifies, we'll send you a refund.
It may be that you accidentally ordered it twice, and they've just canceled the second order. Check in your Amazon account (Your account-Your orders-Digital orders) and see if you've actually been charged for this book. If you have, and it's really not available for downloading to your Kindle or already on it, contact them through <https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/contact-us> with the dates you ordered and paid for the book. I've always found Kindle customer service swift, competent, and fair in adjusting errors.
Hook your kindle fire to your computer. When the auto play window appears click on "view files". When your kindle hard drive files appear then look for the books file on your kindle. Click on the books folder then copy and paste them on your desktop then unplug your kindle. Plug your wife's kindle in then do the same to open her books folder then copy and paste the books from your desktop into her book folder.
If you ordered online, best bet is to go back to the seller's website and check your order status page. You should be able to see when an item was ordered. If not possible but you ordered online, did you give an email address for shipping and order confirmations. Look for those emails.
If you bought at retail with a credit card and remember where, you can check credit card statements for the transaction either paper statements or online statements if you have registered with the card issuer.
