Open Question

Humidifiers How do I de-install my old ef18lj241 Solenoid and install the new one. There is a hard plastic nipple valve that seems to be permanently attached to the hudifier housing and it looks like it will crack if I try to just pull it out.

Hello, typically solenoid valves should be replaced every 7 years and they are not very difficult to replace. Just need to shut off water at saddle valve, turn off power to humidifier, and remove mounting hardware. Here is a link to store which sells the solenoid needed for your humidifier. http://www.aprilairehumidifierparts.com/product.php?p=aprilaire_4005&product=111011&category=1686

Solenoid coil for furnace humidifier

Hello, the coil should be normally closed when no power is applied to it and should have continuity. The best way to check it however is to bring power directly to it, if it does not open when 24 volts is applied to it then it must be replaced. Typically the entire valve is replaced

I installed a new Aprilaire 700 and everything looks normal except there isn't ant water flow, I am not sure if this is the solenoid or transformer problems?

Check if you are getting 24 volts at the transformer, if you are then appy power directly to the solenoid valve from transformer, you should here the solenoid valve click and let water through. If not replace the solenoid valve. If the valve works by giving power directly from transformer the check the wiring, humidistat, and current sensing relay/sail switch.

We just bought a home with this humidifier installed on the furnace. There's no activity when the furnace is running. The water is connected but does not flow. Could this be a transformer problem? We guess...

Could be a couple of things. Transformer can be bad. Try connecting the two wires (usually wired red and white) from the transformer to terminal W and C on the circut board. Your bypassing the transformer and if installed a current sensing relay. The furnace transformer will/should handle the extra load. Turn on the furnace, if still not working, loosen the water supply line at the water solenoid on the humidifier, if water flows out then your supply valve isn't clogged, if no water then try screwing in the needle on the supply valve all the way in then back out. If still no water then the valve is clogged. If all is good then it looks like the water solenoid is bad or wiring to valve/humidifier control. Don't find the controls bad that often. Have fun!

Honeywell True Steam heats but continuosly drains / vibrates

I had the same problem.
I replaced the solenoid which resulted with the same problem.
I then blocked the drain using a ball valve, that resulted in the humidifier overflowing.
I do have a fault code (3 blinks) indicating failure to fill tank.
However, if this were true, blocking the drain would have solved this problem.
I have replaced the unit with a new one, and it is now working perfectly.
If you have covered all these bases then I suggest replacing your unit. Hopefully it's under warranty.
Cheers, Rich

Aprilaire 700 never shuts off

Thanks for your question,
Sounds to me like you have a bad solenoid valve in your Humidifier, this will need replaced, the solenoid is supposed to open and close when there is a call for humidity only when the furnace is running, then when the proper amount of humidity is sensed by the humidistat, then will it shut off, with the solenoid not working it will let water flow through like an open faucet, the solenoid is the componet that the 1/4in copper tubing connects to at the humidifier, has two wires running from it, you will need to shut the power off before changing this out, also shut the water off at the valve at the other end of the 1/4in copper line, or you might get soaked, please be careful when installing the new solenoid, making sure the water line connection is secure, or you will have leaks, hope this was helpful, please leave a rating, thanks again for your question,

Loud "Glonk" when humidifier turns off

Try turning the water valve going to the soleniod down. There may be too much pressure. You may have to replace solenoid one more time after making the adjustment.

SOLENOID DOES NOT SEEM TO BE WORKING.

If your humidifier is wired to run only wen your fan is on. if your water supply is could you will not get any humidity unless the heat in on. you need to connect the humidifier to hot water then you can keep the fan on the on positions by your thermostat and set your hemostat to 35% hum.
