LG 42LB5DF turns on by itself and the channels keep changing

I bought this tv second hand and all has been well but I got home the other day and the tv was on. I started watching it and now the channels keep going up in numbers. Its not the remote or the buttons on the side of the tv. All presses in and out with no problems. Can you plase let me know what to do and what part I might need to order to repair it. Thanks! If I unplug it for a little while it will work with no problems for a little bit. Not sure what the cost would be to repair it.

The tv eprom has been corrupted

BUT you need specialist equipment to re programme the eprom.
also if you intend to try this yourself you will need a copy of the un-corrupted info for th eprom

Just bought a vizio, the tv turns on real pixelated but fixes itself in 15 seoncds

If I have trouble with a brand new TV I always take it back and am sure to get another brand entirely. Personally I've had good luck with LG, SEIKI, and Samsung.

We bought an LG flatscreen TV and a digital...

it's the aerial, tv has nothing to do with channels. it's the signal that carries the channels. i'm pretty sure if you had it hooked up to a cable box, you'll get all the channels, so i'm sure your tv is fine. i would double check on the aerial and positioning the attenna has some factor into it.

Programming wrking fine, however i have no channel guide/listings

Call LG. They will have you go through diagnostics over the phone and ask for diagnostic data the TV has in memory.

I have done this about 10 times and my TV usually loses all it's TV guide data after I customize my channel listings (delete all the channels I don't susbscribe to). Within a day or two of calling them, my TV Guide is back to normal.

I will never buy another LG TV. Thank God I bought the extended warranty. I've had the power supply already replaced (this is also the 2nd set..replaced 1st set due to same issue), TV turns itself on at times ( in winter - low humidity/static electricity??), and loses TV Guide listings on a frequent basis (after I change the channel map).

TV Changing Channels on It's Own

Are you changing channels with the remote? Try taking the battery out of the remote, its buttons might just be getting stuck? If, when changing the channel by hand, it persists, then it is an electrical problem, and you should contact LG to see about getting your unit replaced.

LG 42PX5D 42 in. HDTV Plasma

Send it back ASAP and get a replacement! I'm serious. You wouldn't want to baby sit this lemon by missing work because you're waiting for a home service tech provided by the company. When the tech comes, he will not have the part required to fix the unit and you'll be waiting at least a week to get another service call. That's another day missing work. You are one lucky guy if the servicer can totally fix the unit to your satisfaction in two visits. Days missed at work could very well add up into buying a new TV. Do not take ownership of this problematic unit especially if you just bought it. Send it back!

42 in LG LCD TV turns off by itself

Found that TV started switching off by itself. Would try to come light blinked for 2-3 seconds, tv came on (with picture and sound) for 1 or 2 seconds and then it would turn itself off. Found that the issue is with one channel only. If you are facing this issue....try quickly changing the channel the moment it comes on. You can do it either with remote or with the TV buttons directly. also in the same logic, if this is still happening, try changing the source to another (rgb-pc, av1, av2 etc). Basically change it from whatever input it is on currently, if changing the channels does not work. My symptom was that the tv made a loud 'TIK' 'TAK' sound which is louder than normal.

I will be contacting LG regarding this issue although it wont get me anywhere im sure, but I will post again If I should find a soulution.
