We just bought an idylis ultrasonic humidifier, but the directions don't make sense. It says to push the button in and wait til it pops out to set the humidity level. It nevers pops out by itself.

I am very fond of my Idylis humidifiers. Best I've ever had. When I bought a 2nd one, I noticed that the HUMIDITY SETTING button had a small sticker on it that said "PUSH TO ROTATE". My larger unit [no longer available] did not have the sticker. And, the sticker instructions are indeed confusing. The button actually has 2 positions 1) when depressed all the way in the settings are locked in place and 2) when pressed in just enough to pop the button up and outward, the button becomes a rotating column that can be turned either L or R to set the desired % humidity. Once the digital readout is at your preference, push the column/button in to lock it down and secure your setting. OMG, so wordy on my part! I think the darn "PUSH TO ROTATE" sticker is not helpful.

Do I have to put water in my honeywell whole home humidifier?

Your humidifier has a water line ran to it from the installation look for a little 1/4" tube it should be on the bottom of your humidifier trace it back to its tie in point and see if it is turned on it will look like a little T handle turn it counter clockwise till it stops and water will be on.controlltech_10.jpg

Have a warm air Honeywell humidifier. The "refill/restart" button is permanently on even if I refill the humidifier and the humidifier does not want to work now. How do I fix this? It seems a sensor is...

This may be due to one of two things.

1. If you turn the unit off or unplug it when you refill the resevoir, then plugging back in or turning it back on will not automatically reset the refill sensor. You must depress the restart slide switch on the bottom front controls to reset and restart the unit, or.....

2. It the refill light won't clear after refilling the resevoir or following the above step, the most likely cause of the problem is a scaled up heating element, which must then be cleaned.

I just uploaded a copy of the user manual to this site, but if you would like to download it directly, follow this link: http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000006709.pdf

Hope this helps!

Need to shut off aprilaire model 550 humidifier

you should have a humidistat that should shut it off when set to zero. if the water solenoid is stuck, water will keep coming out even when the system is not heating. all humdifiers will have a water line ran to them. yours is most likely a 1/4"copper line that runs from the water solenoid on the side or bottom of the humidifier to a saddle valve on one of your water lines. this saddle valve is usually installed very close to the water heater. follow the line to the valve and shut the water off. sometimes you have to loosed the nut on the water valve to get it to turn easily. do not loosend the nut more the 1/4 turn and then make sure you tighten it back down after shutting the water off.

Filling humidifier

On the Vicks v-3100 the water tank should lift off of the unit. Flip it over and there is a lid. Open the lid and fill the tank. Once you've filled it back up, put the lid back on. Flip the tank over to make sure there are no leaks, then put it back on the humidifier.

Note: It's very important to check to make sure the tank isn't leaking before you put it back on the humidifier, if it is, it will flood the reservoir, in turn causing water to leak out of the bottom of the humidifier (which is one of the major complaints about the 3100).
