Ok sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Press Windows+R on your keyboard (The Windows key is between ctrl and alt.) It should bring up a dialogue box that says "Run." Type "%appdata%\utorrent" (without the quotions around it.) Press OK and it should bring up a folder. Delete EVERYTHING in this folder. Reinstall uTorrent and try again. Let me know what you find if this doesn't fix it I have other ideas!

Do you know how to log in to your router and adjust the settings? Most likely it IS a port forwarding issue. Most routers have a way to set up one device in a way that frees up all ports for forwarding. If you know how to do this let me know so I can try and get detailed instructions.

I would be happy to guide you. I'll warn you routers are tricky little buggers, but we should be able to get this figured out.

OK, bear with me I am at work so it may be a while between my replies. First thing I need you to do is to uninstall utorrent. Do you know how to do that? If not I will get you instructions

Hi, I'm having problems port forwarding my Thompson TG585 v8. Im trying to port forward for utorrent application but it does not seem to work, everytime i get an error saying "port is not...

- Please check if it's UDP or TCP. You might have selected TCP for port forwarding but Torrent also uses UDP. For some ports that's important to make both forwarding. One for TCP, the other for UDP.

- If this doesn't work, you need to go deeper. You need to have access to an external computer on internet (a friend) from which you can start a telnet. For instance :
telnet mypublicip 45682

On your side, you need to check what's coming on your network interface. Two options to achieve this :
- Either you book a linux live cd (kubuntu), and you run in a console :
sudo tcpdump -ni eth0
(eth0 is the first ethernet adapter of your workstation).
- Either you use wireshark on Windows, this should do the trick, but you cannot be sure that there is no other software blocking on your current installation.

How do I change the NAT setting to open?

Hello and welcome to FixYa.

My guess is that you are looking for port forwarding (eg: port 80 to host a webserver, or maybe a utorrent port for torrent downloads).

These are my suggestions for this issue in general (Assuming you first logged in to your router administration panel. Usually located @ address or or depending on manufacturer can be located underneath the router on a sticker, along with the default admin console password and username):

1. Please enable UPnP to set NAT to open.
2. Goto the port forwarding section (might also be called Virtual server section etc.) and do a port forward using the IP of the computer you need to open port to, with TCP port 80 or 8080 or utorrent port or the number of the port you may need in general.

Please tell me how much did that help you.

More info on this matter that might be helpful can be found==> here

Utorrent port not working

It doesn't need to be port forwarded unless it is not downloading. But if you must, check for instructions specific to your router.

Hello there, you only need to open a port for utorrent, if you use a Router device for sharing your internet connection to more than 1 computer. If you do indeed own a router then you will need to log-in to it, via your web browser and change the necessary settings to forward the port that utorrent uses, to your local computers address.

Please write again if you need more support.

Hope this helps.

Utorrent downloads with WRT54GL?

Before we can forward ports for Utorrent, we need to figure out what ports Utorrent is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up Utorrent.

Click Options in the menu at the top of your screen. In the list that drops down click Preferences.

Click Connections on the left hand side of the Utorrent program. You should now see the menu shown in the screenshot above. Make sure the Enable UPnP box is unchecked. The number in the Port Used for Incoming Connections box contains the port you need to forward. You can change the port number, if you want to. Please enter the port you chose into the box below.
Utorrent's Port for incoming connections To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address. Take a look at our Static IP Address guide to setup a static ip address. When you are finished setting up a static ip address, please come back to this page and enter the ip address you setup in the Static IP Address box below.

Do not skip this step! Please enter the static ip you want to forward to: 192.168.1.

Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is blank, and the password is admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.

Click the Security link near the top of the page.

Remove the checkmark from the Block Anonymous Internet Requests checkbox.
Click the Save Settings button near the bottom of the page.
Click the Applications & Gaming link near the top of the page.
You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Port Range Forward.

Port Range Application Start End Protocol IP Address Enable To Both 192.168.1. We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Utorrent requires you to forward the ports you entered above. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Port Range Forward menu.
When you're finished, click Save Settings near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!
