You have blown a fuse. Check inside the oven chamber and look for missing powder paint or signs of arcing, if so dispose of the microwave. If the inside is good remove all the screws and remove the cover. Replace the fuse. If the magnetron was making louder noises prior then replace the magnetron. Since the fuse went the giant capacitor is likely bad. While the cabinet is open make sure to look for burned wires, check the continuity of thermal cutoffs, and check the main circuit-board for burned traces or components. The relays in most electronics are known for arcing (spot welding) and staying in the wrong position. Tap them hard with the back end of a screwdriver. During all of this use safe electrical practices by having the power cord unplugged. The capacitor could still have a high charge on it so be careful.

You must open it up. There is no reset. If fuse is blown then check the door switches.

GE microwave oven model#JVM1441BH04 when you close door on switch activates and oven comes on. Only goes off when door is opened.

HELLO.

the problem your are experiencing with your microwave oven is a failed interlock switch.
Be careful when closing your microwave door. Slamming the door too hard is one of the main reasons that the interlock switch is damaged.

Slamming the microwave door shut can easily blow the microwave fuse, but they can also blow due to problems with the interlock switches.
A microwave oven will not function until the fuse is replaced.

Instruction on how to replace fuse on microwave.

1. Unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet to prevent electrocution. Place the microwave in a well-lit area to be able to locate the fuse.

2. Use a screwdriver to remove the outer cabinet of the microwave, and follow the power cord to the fuse. The fuse is located 2 to 3 inches within the microwave and is attached to the power board.

3. Observe the fuse to determine if it is blown. Blown glass fuses will produce burn marks on nearby surfaces, or the internal fuse wire will be black and melted, while ceramic fuses show no outward appearance of being blown.

4. Determine if a ceramic fuse is blown by testing it with an ohmmeter. If the ohmmeter reads zero ohms, your fuse is not blown. Other readings on the ohmmeter show that your fuse is blown.

5. Replace the blown fuse by popping it out of its holder, and snapping a new fuse in its place. Tighten the fuse clips by squeezing them together with your fingers.

6. Replace the outer cabinet of the microwave, and plug the microwave back into the electrical outlet. Test the microwave to see if it's working properly.

thanks.

HELLO.

Yes.Water can only drip between the glass on the door when the door do not seal properly due to dirt on the microwave door.follow these steps given below to clean the door.

Where is the fuse located. It just quit heating but still runs, any ideas

There is usually a 125V, 20 AMP line fuse inside most microwave ovens. It will be mounted somewhere at the point where the power cord enters the back of the unit, in line with the power cord, or on a small circuit card called a line filter. Unfortunately, you will need to uninstall the oven (if this is an over the range model), UNPLUG it and remove the exterior case to access. The case comes off in various ways depending on manufacturer and model. Parts are available at any of the following websites: searspartsdirect.com pcappliancerepair.com appliancepartspros.com repairclinic.com The first three sites include illustrated parts listings that can help you locate and properly identify any parts you may need. The microwave oven may also equipped with various thermostats that (if blown) can cause similar symptoms to that of a blown line fuse. So, if the line fuse is NOT blown, you may want to check all the thermostats to see if they are still good. You will need to remove each one and measure across the terminals with a multimeter. A good reading is 0 ohms. NOTE: The thermostats typically will trip if the oven cavity has been overheated. Cooking items that are high heat producers such as popcorn or baked potatoes in rapid succession can often cause this problem. Allowing the oven cavity to cool a few minutes with the door open between cooking can prevent this from occurring.

If the line fuse is blown, you can usually purchase a box of fuses at a hardware store for just a little more than what the manufacturer charges for a single fuse. 125V, 20AMP Ceramic Slow Blow fuses are recommended.

If you have any questions, or need additional assistance troubleshooting, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

NOTE: Make sure you take any resistance readings with the microwave UNPLUGGED and the component under test isolated (removed) from the circuit. These ovens can still blow a fuse by simply sitting idle. This can occur from any power fluctuations, brown outs, voltage spikes, etc. Or, it could be the symptom of a component that may have failed. If you find the internal fuse blown and replace it, only to have it blow again, you have a more significant problem than a simple blown fuse.

There seems to be no power. No clock. no nothing. It was working fine and then jut stopped. Circuit is not tripped. I tried unplugging and plugging again.

most likely you will have to remove the louvers or trim above the cooking cavity to get to the fuse, look for screws holding the trim/louvers on, if no screws are apparent, the piece may slide to the left or right and pop off.

Unplug your microwave. Although it might seem like no electrical current could possibly be running through your appliance, it could still have stored electrical current somewhere in the system. Be safe rather than sorry and unplug it before you begin.

Find the wiring diagram for your model of GE microwave. You can contact GE directly to get this if you cannot locate your owner's manual. Note the fuse locations and get a screwdriver. Some GE fuses are located under the louvers, while others are located in the door.

  • 3

Open up the microwave and locate the blown fuse. Sometimes you cannot determine a blown fuse by visual inspection so check it with a multimeter for continuity across the terminals.

  • 4

Replace the blown fuse. Go to your local hardware store and pick up a matching fuse. Make sure you check the model numbers of the fuse as well to be sure you get the right component. Install the new fuse and put everything back together.

  • 5

Check the continuity of the circuit if you continue to have power problems. If you have a problem with continuity in the circuit, then you may have a bigger problem than just a blown fuse. Sometimes a power surge will fry a GE microwave's circuit board, which you will need to replace.

    Where is the main fuse?

    Hello :

To locate the fuse, remove the outer cabinet of the unit, which is usually held in place with a few screws. Once the outer cabinet is removed, follow the power cord into the unit. It will take you to the fuse holder, where the fuse sits. The fuse holder is located two or three inches into the unit, and may be attached to a power board .

The picture bellow is showing a blown fuse .

Check the internal fuse. Unplug it, unscrew and take off the cover, the fuse should be easily found in the back by the power cord. It looks like a regular fuse but is white instead of clear glass because microwave fuses are special. You'll have to measure it with a meter as a result and be sure to replace it with the same kind. (try finding them at radio shack) Hopefully there isn't something more serious also.
    Hope ya fix it!
