Yamaha dd55 pad not working

A pad on my Yamaha dd55 drum set is not working or not sound ing the proper sound programmed to it. I have had this problem before, but I am sick of sending it to Yamaha to fix.Does any one know how difficult it is to repair? Last time I had this problem, the other pads eventually died too. Thanks for any help

SOURCE: Yamaha clavinova won't play C natural in any octave

Hi ...
There are flexible cables that connect the keys to the main electronics. The connectors for those cables sometimes age poorly..
It is fixable. But dont "get taken" on a repair.
If it's just resoldering a few points,it shouldnt be more than $100.00
to fix

SOURCE: i want to connect my YAMAHA DTXPRESS IV SPECIAL to my PC

Any pro-audio interface with a midi input would do the trick. There are numerous products out there that offer this. You can get a simple usb midi interface, and connect the Yamaha up with a midi cable running from the midi out of the drum module to the nidi in of the interface.

one of the simpler ones:...

SOURCE: Low Volume using Kaoss Pad Mini while DJing

I'm having the problem too...I'm thinking that maybe getting the DC adapter MAY fix it though as stated in the Manual: "...The output level of the mini-KP will be smaller than its input level. This is because the attenuator circuit is connected at the input section, considering that the mini-KP is used on battery power." so maybe the dc connector will increase output volume?

My Yamaha DD55 set has started making weird crackling noises every time I hit one of the pads. Was fine until I started playing them this morning, sounds quite static when contact is made with pads.

It could be either the internal pickup is coming unglued or the electrical connections need to be re-soldered. If you're not familiar with the process, have it done by a repair shop. You risk causing more damage if you're not careful.

Yamaha dd55c hi hat foot pedal not working

This could be caused by a number of things.
1) Socket on DD55 could be broken
2) Cable could be broken
3) Plug at end of cable could be broken
4) Switch in foot unit could be broken

Eliminate each by working through 1 - 4 using a multimeter and then repair accordingly once you have found the fault.

Setting up in logic studio

I assume you are using a Mac or similar Apple product. you may need to go the chooser to select the DD55 if the system does not recognize it automatically. If it does not appear as a choice you need to install/reinstall the driver.

I get random unwanted midi notes triggering while I plug my dd-55 into my emu x-midi 2x2 with my Reaper DAW. I don't know if this is a problem with the emu or the dd-55 itself, but it doesn't...

Check that you don't have MIDI echo on in the DAW. If the MIDI data is echoed, it MAY be merging with the outgoing and when MIDI signals are merged in pieces instead of whole messages the data is corrupted. If you can look at the data stream with software, you should be able to spot the problem. Another problem might be excessive latency of the recording software. Make sure you do not have antivirus or antispyware programs running or network running. The Roland will spill data at much less rate and while the dd55 may overrun the DAW the Roland might not be able to. The key to the problem is to analyze the MIDI data stream that is being recorded.

My dd55 work well if i play gently and simple. But if i play something more complicated, then, after a few seconds, it restart power. It look as there some problem with polifone tones and power. Adapter,...

Whatever is the problem is probably vibration sensitive. The adpater connections are notorious and you would have to use test equipment to verify they are OK. Looking at them you cannot verify they are OK. Try to see if the display blinks right before it stops. If it isn't the connections, then it is possible one of the buttons is marginal and is vibrating down and restarting. Instead of complicated stuff, just do everything on one pad at a time to see if you can create the problem. Try different pads as the vibration may need to be neaar a particular point. Myself I would open the unit and inspect for loose wires etc.

A weak snare is a characteristic of these... The triggers are typically piezo discs that were often used in musical cards but those have now gone to using very flat little speakers... You may find some have been dislodged or broken loose... worth a look inside.

If you have a sampler, you could midi out of the DTX brain into the midi in of the sampler to trigger the sounds. If not ,try downloading KORE2 from Native Instruments onto your computer and triggering it using the above mentioned method . Midi out from your brain to Midi in on your computer. Hope this helps.
