My gate way laptop don't have any sound wat can i do to get sound an it modle for it is mx8741
It looks as though this laptop shipped with Windows Vista meaning that there may not be older drivers for some of the hardware in it. I found a few forum posts mentioning that they had audio working on XP but it sounded like it was auto installed upon installation of Windows.
Does the volume icon by the clock allow you to turn the volume up and down or does it say there is no device available? If you can adjust the volume get back to me ASAP it is probably a software issue. If you CAN'T adjust the volume it is either a hardware or driver issue so try the steps listed
Go to the device manager (Start>Run then type mmc devmgmt.msc)
Under sound, video, and game controllers see if there are any exclamation points or anything that looks amiss and we can go from there.

Does it show up in the Device Manager? If not, you probably need to download the drivers from the manufacture's website.

When i checked, i can only find the Conexant Audio Driver Version: 6.14.10.0565 for this model.
Is that the driver which u tried?
