Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

Fisher ca 273

Does anyone have a owners manual for a Fisher CA-273 and EQ-273. If not, how do I get my Fisher CR-272 tape player to play if I'm using the Tape in and out to control the EQ on the amp? The EQ has tape in and out inputs and I've tried to hook the tape player through that, but then I don't know what controls on the amp to select to get it to work. If you need me to send you pics, just let me know.

I didn't have enough room to add more to my question above, so I added it here.

Here is a pic of my system. The top component is the amp, the 2nd is the EQ and the 3rd is the tape player. The other 2 are the CD player and tuner. So, here is what it did.

    1.

I ran the EQ line in to the amp tape rec out (L,R).

    2.

I ran the EQ line out to the amp tape P.B. (L,R)

    3.

I ran the tape player line in (hard to see in pic) to the EQ rec out (L,R)

    4.

I ran the tape player line out (hard to see in pic) to the EQ P.B. (L,R)

On the front of the amp there are 5 buttons to choose which component to use. Tape Mono, Phono, CD, Tuner and Aux. Since the EQ runs through the tape inputs in the back of the amp, I need to select the Tape Mono button to run the EQ. So, that does not leave a button to choose for my tape player since it is hooked up to the EQ. I thought that if you only chose Tape Mono, that the tape would work, but it didn't. If I had a CA-273 manual, I could confirm this, but sadly I do not. I did hook up the Tuner and the CD player and they both work great and the amp does work through the inputs I used as you can turn off the Tape Mono and you can tell the EQ is not running. So, after all that, how do I get this to work? Can I run the line in from the tape player to the AUX of the amp and leave the line out on the tape player not hooked up to anything and use the AUX button? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: i need manuals for hooking

I can't even find a reliable picture of the amp but it's not rocket science.

The Tuner output goes to, say, FM or Aux on the am, anything BUT Phono, which is ONLY for a turntable.

The EQ output goes to the first available Tape In; Input Comes from the same Tape Out. Select that tape function to engage it in line with any source and the downstream electronics (second tape, tone, volume, speakers).

The tape deck output goes to Tape In; Input comes from Tape Out. If there is not a second tape loop on the amp, nest the Tape Deck into the EQ's Tape loop. They always have at least one to replace the one they use. Select THAT tape function to engage it in line with any source and the downstream electronics.

Fisher equalizer-2322

"Rec" is considered a send (output from Fisher to an external device) and PB (playback) would be an input from external devices in to the Fisher. Remember all outs feed in's, and all in's feed outs...output from Fisher (Rec) IN to EQ. Out of EQ in to Fisher (PB). A quick test is to simply jumper the out to the in and check Fisher for proper operation. Also, in these modes you MUST press the "Tape Monitor" button for the audio signal to be routed through this In/Out loop.

How do i connect my fisher equalizer to the amp model # CA-871

I assume this amp does not have separate amp and preamp.
(I cannot get the service manual for free...)
Connect the equalizer input to Tape OUT on the amp. Connect the Equalizer output to Tape IN on the amp. (Match up lefts and rights, eh?)

Now, when you press in the tape monitor button, whatever you have playing runs through the equalizer. Tape monitor button out, you hear the sound without the equalizer.

Looking to hook up an older model fisher EQ (EQ-961) to a newer Sony amplifier (STR-697).

Typically you would place an EQ or any processor2_bing.gif in a Tape Loop:

MD/Tape (or Video1) Rec/Out to EQ In; EQ Out to MD/Tape Play (or Video1) /In on the amp. Select MD/Tape (or Video1) on the receiver to place the EQ in-line with whatever source you're playing. Use it's ability to modify the sound sparingly.

Be advised, use of an external processor will only work for analog stereo sources and will likely DISable anything digital as soon as you activate the switch that puts it in the signal path.

How to connect the FISHER EQ-273 equalizer to the FISHER CA-885

It goes between whatever you are using to create the sound and the input to the amplifier.
e.g. for a standard HiFi.. HiFi aux out to equalizer input... equalizer output to amplifier aux input.
Trying to keep left and right channels the same through out. They are usually colour coded. Red = right Left = white.
Hope that helps.
