What is a cad cell and what does it do

A cad cell is a photo-electric device that reads the UV rays given off by flame after it has ignited. If it does not 'see' the flame, due to a flame failure OR a cad cell failure, the control circuit is locked out.
Make sure there is no carbon on the front (window)of the cell and make sure its adjustment is in perfect alignment to the flame.

I have a Mr Heater infra red propane wall heater. My problem is it turns itself off (pilot light) after running for an hour or two. I have no problem getting it turned back on but for some reason it d

Your pilot flame should be blue with a small yellow tip, and it should cover the thermocouple (a small rod in front of the pilot light). If the flame is too small and doesn't cover the thermocouple, it may be adjusted too low, or you have low gas pressure or you have a leak in your gas line coming in to the heater. If the flame looks like a lazy yellow flame, you are probably not getting enough air to the flame. Check that your air openings around the pilot are not clogged up. If the flame looks like a waving blue flame then you probably have excessive draft at the pilot. If the pilot flame looks good and covers the thermocouple, then the thermocouple might be bad. Best of luck. I hope I have helped.

I have a monitor 2400 and it is flashing code E01 anyone got an clue what that means

E01 means the flame rod is sensing a flame when there shouldn\'t be one. This is caused by a grounded flame rod or pinched wire. For some reason the flame rod could be touching metal inside the heater. The flame rod could be bent or the burner ring is warped so much that it is touching the flame rod. Another possibility is the wire for the flame rod has somehow gotten pinched. If you remove the front cover and the black grill from the heater, you can see the window into the burner. The plate it is attached to has about 10 screws holding it on. You can remove the plate using caution not to damage the gasket and look into the burner to see what is going on. The flame rod should be centered between the burner ring and the burner. Let me know what you find. If you need to order parts I can help you with that.

We have a EE2 message. How do you get to the flame rod?

Unplug the heater before removing the flame rod. Remove the front cover by removing 2 screws, one on each side at the bottom. The flame rod is on the side of the combustion chamber with one wire going to it. You can clean it with some fine sandpaper or steelwool.

Error code 12

The error code 12 normally refers to a flame failure/front flame rod did not sense any heat or ignition.

If you have turned off the heater and the message again pops up, it could be because of following things:
Flame rod couldd be bad
Could be possibilities of carbon being stuck.
A dirty burner or losse wire due to which the flame is not getting on burner quickly.

Overall you need to check for debris.

In addition please find additional information:

When it goes to the second and third stage on the dial to make it hotter the flame goes out. If you re-pilot it, it comes right bak on, but it will not stay on the higher settings.

there is a flame rod that looks like a thermocouple at one end of the burner. Pull it back away from the burner toward the front of the heater slightly. This will allow the heater to operate at higher temps without shutting off the gas to the burner. The high limit will still work but the sensor is in the flame to close and is getting to hot as the flames get higher

Laars Teledyne Pool heater flames on for 2 seconds, shuts off

You have no flame rectification.....LLD series heaters check for a signal through the flame to ground; if the module does not detect this signal, it go through two more trials for ignition and then lock out the module. There should be a flame rod and it may need cleaning. I use steel wool.

1600c vanguard propane heater, big flame on middle grate

Make sure the grate is in the holder like the others, and nothing is blocking the bottom of it. They often slip back where the fire misses the inside where it should hit.
