Error codes are considered start-point for troubleshooting.

Other causes can include faulty sensor, clogged in-line filter, clogged water softener, sediment in pipe, sediment at elbow, bad check valve, water leak, etc.

My hot tub is cold and the board is flashing hl

when a hot tub flashes a code I have found that 99% of the time it is the the flow switch with tells the mother board that it is ok to turn on the heaters. you need to power tester and check to flow of power to each section on the system. It would help very much if you had a wireing diagrham.

If yo understand power and how it will work a system from the point it ties into the first wire. Take your tester and slowly follow the pathway.

I wish I could paint a better picture where its " just push a button" but I can not.

Best of luck, BE SAFE and dont forget to rate how we helped or hurt you :)

Our water gets cold half way through our shower. we have to go to the garage and shut it off and then turn it back on. This happens almost everytime we take a bath or shower.

1) You posted under Rheem tankless
Open following link for useful troubleshooting resources:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html

2) Unit can have internal part failure for example PC board, and result is that you get no error code.
This would explain why re-setting the tankless works.

3) Unit could also have loose wire or loose connection.
Or maybe the heat exchanger needs to be de-limed.
Or incoming gas, or incoming air, or vent problem.
Or water pressure, or water flow.

4) Without an error code, the problem can be household plumbing problem.

5) Tankless repair is a large and developing field, and technicians train for years and still see new stuff each day.
Do-it-yourself tankless troubleshooting and repair might take equal amount of work.
First thing you want to do is read the manual several times.
Pay special attention to the word 'maintenance' and make sure you are properly maintaining water heater on yearly basis.
Next thing is to find qualified technician in your area, and put that person's number in your rolodex wallet. When technician comes over, ask that person for do-it-yourself tips and tricks.

6) Add a comment with your experience so other with same-similar problem can benefit.

I have a Rheem (Paloma) GT199XN tankless water heater. It has worked fantastic since I installed about 5 years ago. Just recently, I have have intermitten issues of the burner not firing up when we turn on...

All costs are energy.
Here's the order of things I would do.

1) Contact Rheem for name of qualified service technician.

2) Call technician who can fix your specific unit, and can educate you about maintenance, and tricks and tips. These guys learn something new each day and are good to have in your rolodex/wallet as tankless unit ages.

3) Download manual, or read manual cover to cover and review maintenance protocol to make sure you're on a schedule for de-liming and other things required for tankless to work.

4) Ask Rheem how you can become familiar with their website pages that show updates and other information that affect your specific unit.

5) Install ordinary tank-type back up that can be put online quickly in case tankless needs parts or frequent maintenance as it ages.

Flow switch of your water heater is electronically controlled by the main board. Fixing it is quite technical and sometimes the service fee plus the parts cost like you bought a new unit and you will not know how long it will take in good condition.

I've advice you to replaced the unit with a new one rather than fixing it to avoid wasting your time because it will cost almost the same...

Hot water

there are two main faults with combi boilers not giving hot water. one is a faulty flow sensor, the other is the most common which is a blocked heat exchanger caused by debris and scale in the system. this needs to be flushed out or may require a new heat exchanger depending on the age and condition of the boiler some plumbers may suggest a new boiler.
