Question about Televison & Video
I have a panasonic tv ctn3176S and I have sound and a single horizontal green line across the middle of the tv the rest if the screen is black what's wrong with the tv?
Problem is in the vertical deflection integrated circuit not the horizontal circuitry. Usually caused by cold solder or cracked solder joints at the pins of the vertical IC. Resoldering the pins will restore your picture.

You have whats called a verticle swep falure. Its probably just the verticle output IC but if you dont know much about soldering or circuit troubleshooting ,you should leave this to the pros. Theres way to much Hi voltage inside these sets to twiddle around inside them. Also there are no consumer serviceable parts inside these sets as well, as they are all solid state, and my advice is spend a few bucks and get a pro to do this job for ya, as it can, and will, kill ya if your not careful.. Is it worth saving a few bucks??? Naawww Call a pro.. Good Luck

A line on an LCD, either horizontal or vertical usually means the video driver board is defective or the screen is defective, does it show up as black even on a dark screen? That means a line of LCD "shutter"s is not working and there is a problem that cant be fixed by a reboot or channel change. Bummer.

Replaced vertical IC ( la78041 ??>.. Or La78040 ). Look for born resistor beside IC. Replaced capacitor 100uf 35V too!!! Good luck !!

If you can do it, then just reheat or resolder the vertical ic pin for first step. If this work then no need to change the IC. Good soldering technique is needed. Do this when unit is no power and unplugged from wall socket.
Remember nasty voltages inside, it might caught you.
