In embroidery mode, you have to send a design to the machine before the bobbin winder will work.

SOURCE: Bobin winder won't wind

I bought a second hand Brother SE-270D. The previous owner had not used the machine in a very long time and could barely remember how to load the cassette to show me that the machine actually worked; but it is in beautiful condition!!

When I tried to run the bobbin winder at home, the winder would not turn, but the motor made a high pitch winding noise! I took it to a sewing machine repair shop and was told that it was because a rubber ring inside the machine, below the winder pin, had deteriorated after years of non use.

The replacement ring and minimal labor cost me less than $10! (The repair person encountered an E1 error message after reassembling my machine, but he was able to correct that by reattaching the wire connections.)

I have a Singer 99-13 with knee control. I wound bobbins but can't get it to sew. Is there something that turns it over to sewing? Thanks. Karen

On the 99-13, you wind the bobbin with the balance wheel in the stop motion position. Thus during bobbin winding, the needle mechanism is disconnected from the rest of the machine. You probably need to tighten the set screw on the balance wheel. The screw is in the center of the balance wheel on the right hand side of the sewing machine. Hold the balance wheel while you turn the screw away from yourself. (You hold the balance wheel and turn the screw over towards you for winding.)

The manual for the 99-13 is available from Singer on their manuals page: . The direct link to the manual is . Look at figure 5 on page 7 (page 4 of the PDF) and then page 10-11 (page 6 of the PDF) for the bobbin winding directions.

I hope this helps.

How do i rethread the bobin

You have to get the machine to switch its gear to wind the bobbin instead of sewing( needle up and down). There are two ways most machines do this...on older or simpler machines you pop the wheel that makes the needle go up and down ( right side of the machine) either in or out! There may be a round knob in the center that pops in or out... Other machines make you move the rod that the bobbin sits on for winding move or swing to engage the gear. There should be a path for it to slide along if that is what your machine does. Good luck!

I can't seem to wind a bobbin. I've done everything in the manual but it just seizes up- doesn't spin.

you placed the bobin upside down

one side is flat the other is keyed

so place the keyed side down
usual fault with winders

bobins are easy... read again the manual slowly

Where to get a new handwheel/handwheel switch for a Singer 3270C sewing machine?

They may not have it but they should be able to order it. How old is the machine? If it is too old, they may not support it any more

Bobin thread is loose

As you are winding the thread onto the bobbin, grasp it between your fingers ever so lightly to give it a little drag so it spools up tighter.

Or just press the thread down against the top of the machine as it winds, anything to just help it spool up a little tighter.

Winding a bobin

That's how that machine works. You don't loosen the hand wheel or anything, Simply put the bobbin on the winder and go.

To "wind" a bobbin you can:
1 - Look in your book
2 - Google : how to thread a bobbin on a kenmore "12 stitch"
3 - Youtube
4 - Ask a friend

To "make a bobin"
1 - Get some 0.5mm stainless steel
2 - Cut two 19mm circles out of the 0.5mm steel
3 - Drill a 6mm hole in the center of each circle
4 - Solder (silver solder work the best) the 2 circles together with a 6mm round by 9mm tall cylinder in between the two 19mm circular pieces.
