SOURCE: my DC 16 will only run for a second each trigger

I had the same problem with my Dyson DC16, where it only runs for a few seconds at a time with each trigger pull. My husband called Dyson (Canada) and without hassle they shipped us a replacement part which I just received this morning. The replacement part sent to us is: DC16 Main Body with Rating Plate. It is also under warranty for 1 year. The great customer service makes up for the flaw in the machine. Also, Dyson is aware of the problem. Hope this helps.

My Dyson V7 vacuum has just recently started working but with an intermittent suction only, not running consistently.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your Dyson cleaner running intermittently. First, it can be due to a battery of the cleaner. Make sure that the power cable is properly plug to the power and seated properly from the unit while charging. If you find that the battery isn't charging at all, you may need to replace the battery. Second is to check the MAX button of your cleaner. If the button lights up and flashes when your Dyson keeps on pulsating, press and hold the power button and depress the MAX button to turn off the function. You may need to do it for a few times to get the hang of it. Third is to check for any blockages or clogs in the attachments. Look down through the tube and check to see if there are clogs on the sweeper end or if the roller is tangled up in fibers. Clean the roller brush are if it it's necessary. You may need to empty the dust bin of your unit as debris can build up in hard to reach places. Lastly, cleaning the filters may fix the pulsating of your cleaner. Remove the filter and rinse it with cold water and air dry it for 12 hours. Don't use detergent when washing your filters. If the pulsating doesn't go with the given quick fix, I suggest to contact Dyson for further assistance on this.

Feb 04, 2017 | Dyson V6 Motor Head Cordless Vacuum

        1 Answer

Have a Dyson v6 for several months. Roller brush stops turning a soon as I start to push forward after staring trigger. Examined & cleaned roller & surrounding head & find no objects interfering.

The Dyson V6 has an electric motor in the power head. The battery is in the handle unit. So power has to get from the battery head unit down to the motor at the floor roller brush. The way they do this is to send the power around the plastic debris cup that you empty, and then into the connector for the tube and out the bottom of the tube to the roller brush motor. Your problem is probably that there is a lost contact along the way. Try plugging the roller brush directly into the head unit leaving the tube out and see if it is intermittent or if it runs fine. In that case the problem is one of the contacts associated with the down tube. If the roller brush is intermittent even when plugged directly into the head unit, then the problem may be the connection associated with the debris cup. remove the cup and make sure the contacts are clean. Hope this helps. G

When I press the trigger the green light comes on but motor does not

Hi Perry, it's Jack at Dyson.

If the green light comes on when your DC35's trigger is pulled, but the machine does not run, this would usually signal that the battery has no charge.

The battery should recharge fully from depleted in 3.5 hours. However if your machine has been connected to the charger for at least this long and still won't run, it could mean there's an issue with either the charger or the battery.

We're happy to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine to hand, to help determine which part is at fault. At your earliest opportunity, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Your battery is losing voltage too quick. It has probably developed a 'memory'. Dyson claims that their handheld has the best suction out of all the handhelds out there. In order to maintain that claim the circuit board will shut off power to the motor when the voltage drops below adequate charge for full suction.
We need someone who can teach us to bypass that part of the circuit so it won't cut power to the motor or you need to get a new battery.
Shorting the battery like an Aircraft battery then re-charging won't fix it.

My dc 16 rechargeable vacuum won't work

far as i know the dyson dc 16 root 6 vacuum uses a lithium ion battery with a charge of 21.6 volts. it could be that either your battery isnt storing the right amount of power anymore and you may need to replace it. check on the specifications to confirm how much volts the battery is supposed to have. too little volts may be enough for things like lights to switch on, but not enough for the motor to start up.
