SOURCE: My pool pump is 2 months old. It is a Hayward 1hp

The capacitor is probably bad. It's under the cover on the side of the motor, Take a look and smell it. A motor shop has them, or Grainger

SOURCE: The pump only hums when plugged in. Any suggestions?

It sounds like the impellor is locked. Take this part off and then see if the pump is turning but before you do, some of them have a big screw driver slot in the shaft. If it does, turn it to see if you can free the impellor. I have done this many times and they will continue to work for years after. They just get stuck from rust, etc. and also being frozen a little. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: how do you change a pump seal on a hayward 1hp

The seal is located behind the impeller. Once you remove the impeller it is fairly obvious how to replace it. Basically, unscrew everything, replace it and put it back together again. There is a decent diagram on page 11 of the Hayward owners manual found here if you need it. http://www.haywardnet.com/products/Manuals/pdfs/Manual113.pdf

How do I adjust the pressure switch on my hayward h250 heater

The purpose of the pressure switch is to verify the pool pump is operating properly and water pressure is present in the heating chamber. When water pressure is not present, the heater control system is designed to not allow initiation of flame. The pressure switch is preset at the factory for deck level installations. When the heater is located below the level of the spa or pool, the pressure switch may require an adjustment to compensate for the no-flow static head.

CAUTION: The Hayward Pool Heater is essentially a furnace. A trained technician should be consulted to repair it. DO NOT OPERATE the Hayward Pool Heater without a properly functioning and calibrated water pressure switch. The pressure switch adjustment requires both the pool pump and the heater be operational. As a result, extreme caution should be used during this procedure since sources of energy can not be isolated during the procedure.

The following procedure is recommended to calibrate the pressure switch.

1. The water pressure switch is located behind the front service panel. The pressure switch is typically on the left side, above the burners.
2. Be sure the water filter is clean before making the adjustment.
3. With the pump and heater system switch on, carefully turn the pressure switch adjustment dial clockwise, until a click is heard from the gas valve.
4. Turn the adjustment dial counterclockwise 1/4 turn.
5. Turn the pump off and on several times. The heater should shut off immediately when the pump is shut off. If the heater fails to shut down when the pump is off, repeat the steps above until the pressure switch is properly adjusted.
6. If the adjustment process fails to produce proper results the pressure switch should be replaced.

I have Hayward EC-45 filter leaking DE into pool via return line every start up. Checked all troubleshooting causes (tube tears, bad gasket, cracked tube sheets, loose bolts, o-rings, etc. All looks OK to...

If D.E. is returning to the pool, it's usually because you have a tear in the grids or the backwash valve is not working properly and returning D.E. back to the pool.

I have the Hayward EC-40 Filter, my problem is the DE is getting into the pool. What would cause this?

Broken/torn grid, o-ring bad in the housing by the grid assembly or grids not in manifold properly. Backwash, open the filter, remove and inspect the grids (the plastic bases too).

No suction from hayward variflow pro series sand filter

Try these tips. I am guessing that one of these is the reason that your pool filter is not working properly. If you try these suggestions and they don't work, let me know and I will trouble shoot with you again.
1. Check skimmer and pump strainer baskets for debris.
2. Check for restrictions in intake and discharge lines.
3. Check for air leak in intake line (indicated by bubbles returning to pool.
4. Backwash your filter.
5. Be sure Vari-Flo valve is set on “Filter” position.

I have a hayward pool pump. I ran the back wash

It sounds like the start switch contacts are not making good contact or there also may be a weak capacitor. These possible solutions do require a basic knowledge of motors to remedy. Start contacts can be cleaned and adjusted until proper replacement can be done.

Inground pool question. How far away can I position my skimmer.

you don't say the volume of the pool, but if the 1.5 was working before and you are not adding too many turns, it will work.
