My Ryobi cultivator starts and runs but stalls as soon as begin to till.

Hi quinn4776, I will try to help you with this problem. This sounds like a problem with the governor or carb adjust. Try this first, adjust the high speed mixture needle that is located at the bottom of the carburetor float bowl by turning it in 1/8 turn increments counterclockwise (4 to 6 times). After each adjustment run it and see if there is any difference. If no difference return the screw to original position. (Before doing any adjustments remember the position you start from). Now do the same with the low or idle mixture needle located on the side of carb, Try the tiller after every adjust. If this does not work return screw to original position. It could be the governor. The governor is like the gas pedal on you car, as you put a load like starting to go up a hill need to press on the gas pedal, well on your tiller the governor does this automatically for you. When you look at the carb, right on the top you should see 2 linkages that attach at two different places. One link should have a spring attached to it. Check to see if it is broken, if it is then it has to be replaced. If it looks like it's unhooked, try to locate where it goes and re-attach. If everything is OK when you check it out, then it might be an adjustment that is needed. I will not try to explain how to adjust it here it is too difficult to put into words. I hope this helps even a little bit. All the best and good luck.

I was looking for the setting for the fuel air mixture screw for the bolens 31 cc 2 cycle cultivator

From the factory, when everything was new, the Hi and Lo screws were 1 1/4 turns out. As things wear and as fuel forms deposits in the carb, you may have to adjust the screws out further. Usually Lo gets stopped up a little first. Lo side adjustment effects how the engine goes from idle to upper speeds. Hi side only effects the engine at wide open throttle. If you have to go more than 2 1/2 turns out on either screw, then a carb overhaul or replacement is in order.
Good luck!
