Printer failure My hplaserjet 2420 is not able start, my display screen is not lighting up and the printer cannot be recognised by any computer, but when you switch it on the sound that it is starting is heard. What could be the problem. The usb drivers are well installed and the cable is ok.

If the printer is printing normally, problem with Display check display connectors,replace it,,,,, if printer is not recognising by system replace formatter assm..

Possible failure of the mother board/ power supply section. You will need to remove and reconnect the lines from the mother board to the display and sections.
If there is no result even after this with the display staying blank then the board can be faulty.

It may be the formatter circuit board.
I had the same issue witha 2420. The problem was intermittent... Turn the printer off and on and the problem MIGHT go away (for a while).
I replaced the formatter pcb and the machine has been running well for days.

You could have a faulty chip on the cartridge, I recommend try replacing the cartridge with a another new one and bring the faulty cartridge back to the retailer whom you purchased from for an exchange.

This error gets due to of printer usb cable problem. If the cable is good, check your usb post, it means some voltage problem in udb port, last one drivers.
Try to download drivers from hp.com of other websites and in stall it.

Is it blank and no back light?

Either way the display might have went dead/bad. These printers are not that old. I would call HP support to have it repaired.

clean the scanner assembly lens with soft cloth. remove the scanner rotating mirror.handle with carefully.you can see a small lblack color latch while removing the rotating mirror. clean the coil contacts & inner magnetic part of the rotating mirror.

If the printer is not even initializing it could be a hardware failure.

This is due to a formatter failure.

Try an nvram
Try doing a hard or reset or nvram:
1. Turn the printer off
2. Hold down the down arrow and the cancel button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

if this does not work contact hp, if within 2 years from the purchase date ask for a case number to have the printer serviced under a service note.
