Seemes very daft, and sounds like a twit, but not really.
When I recieved the new cartridge I placed it in the correct cartridge retainer in the printer matching up the dark green colour of the cartridge and the top clip, and it printed nothing even after a tryed re-seating it.
So I placed it in the other thinking maybe I somehow might have placed it in the wrong slot, so I placed it in the other (Colour), and set that up as I did the other, and it printed a blurred page but then stopped printing.
After that I then placed it back in the other cartridge retainer, set it up as the previous times when it did not work, and then it worked.
Seems strange and simple, but it did not work the first time at all, and after faffing with it finally did.
This might help someone, and then again might not.

You may have to change the communication format called the "Spool format."
Please follow the steps given below to change the spool data format:
1. Click on "Start," "Control Panel," "Hardware and Sound" and "Printers."
2. Then, right click on the Lexmark printer icon and left click "Properties."
3. Either on the "Advanced" tab or the "General" tab for some models, there is a "Print Processor" button, left click it.
4. This is the spool format setting. Under "Print processor" it should be set to "Lexmark 2400 series print processor." Next, under "Default datatype," select "NT EMF 1.008."
5. Click "OK" and exit back out to your desktop.
6. Please try printing again.
If this does not help the situation, please describe any differences it does make.

You need to connect to this printer with a Win 7 Driver installed on the Win 7 machine, and when you finish that, install. Then Go to printers>>ADD PRINTER. When the menu comes up, select, Connect to a NETWORKED Printer, basically navigate to the printer and select. Now Before you can do that, you MUST, be on the Same Workgroup, Must Have a Login Password, Must Have a PC Name. On the Printer, on XP. Sharing MUST be enabled on Printer, also there MUST be a Printer NAME too. After you have st all that up, do as I initially said, install the Win 7 driver, find printer, login, and you'll be printing in no time.
