Question about AcerView 211C Monitor

1 Answer

Picture collapsed into a 1inch vertical bar and now gone altogether.

Any ideas on what component would be the culprit? Heard a small pop at the time it failed. Can't see any damaged components on the main board. Guessing it's in the horizontal sync area? any help appreciated, may be a common fault with these models. AJ

Sounds like your coil driver has failed (these are the magnetic coils that steer the picture)

Heard pop and had burnt smell from DELLE207WFP.

The pop you heard was probably a capasitor. If i am correct the smell will get more prominet how longer the screen is on.
If it is a capasitor, which i believe it is, it will not be expensive at all to repair. Just take it to an electronic repair shop and let them just put in a new capasitor. The vapours of the smell is not deadly fo the small amounts of time and the concentration you are inhaling, but it gives me headaches.

Please rate this.

Monitor display

Hi again,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

A suggestion, to verify if the buttons are the culprit/faulty, why not temporarily removed them or whichever is erring or cover the contacts with paper or tape. If problem is gone, verified that it is the button; if problem persists, then it is the logic controller (D/A) converter.

Heard pop sound, then no power

Sounds like your monitor just fried itself.
Since monitors are hazardous, tricky to fix, and are quickly outdated within a year, by a monitor with a bigger size and resolution.

To answer your question: Your monitor is bricked, and will need to be replaced with a new monitor.

Power board malfunction

There may be four (4) ways the repair could be done:
1. board - an entirely new power board maybe available from the monitor manufacturer or you can Google for OEM provider;
2. board - a refurbished/reworked board may be available, again you have to Google. Both 1 & 2 would require that you search for the actual PCB assembly number;
3. use the power supply board from an identical unit that has defective LCD panel, inverter or other problems/defect other than the PSU; and
4. component level repair - determine which components in the power supply are defective and needs replacement.

All of the above would require time. Time to look for the replacement board, time to determine which component to replace, time to do the actual repair.

Cost - depends on the tech. Of course board assembly would cost more to purchase but should be relatively easy to perform and therefore should not be expensive in terms of service. On the other hand, component level repair often would be cheaper in terms of parts purchases but would cost more in terms of service fees.

Taking into considerations the above factors, it may be more to your advantage to do the repairs yourself (no service fee). Still should you be uncomfortable on a DIY, then the cost of repairs might justify the purchase of a new LCD monitor instead.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Zenith monitor in an arcade game

Check to see if you can find horizontal and vertical sync controls. These would typically be small knobs or screwdriver adjustments on the edge of a circuit board or at the back of the monitor chassis. Try adjusting the vertical sync....rotate the knob back and forth two or three times to "clean" it...then adjust to see if you can get the picture to settle down.

Aging electrolytic capacitors are the most common cause of symptoms like this. You'll need the assistance of an experienced electronics technician to find the exact source of the problem.
