Question about GE 24 in. Profile PDW7800 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

1h (?) signal, and soap dispenser doesn't open

I have a 2-year-old GE Profile PDW8800 dishwasher that shows a 1h (or something like that - maybe Ih?) signal on the timer display no matter what cycle button I press. When it runs (IF it runs), the soap dispenser doesn't open and the dishes are not clean. This is a new problem, but this dishwasher has already been repaired 3 or 4 times for other problems in the two years we've had it.

IH shows no matter what I do. My dishwasher is only 7 months old.

The part called a Wax Motor (about 2 inches) inside the door is responsible for opening your dispenser.Check it / replace it.

A GE dishwasher GDT580 that's displaying code 1H or IH and will not start

that's not an error code. it's a 1H, as in one hour, the delayed start function. hold the delay start button down to override, then reset it back to where you want it.

GE Profile Smart Dispense is clogged. How can I unclog it.

Hi

Dishwashers use Bi-Metal strip to allow the dispenser to open/close. This strip when heat up causes the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. If this strip is not heated doesn't allow the door to open. The strip may not be getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn't receive 120 volts, then it'll not work. Please check the voltage to the wax motor/Bi-metal strip; also inspect the connections to these. Hope this helps...

Husband mis filled ge profile washer dispeser. can we use mixed solution or should we throw it out

Did he overfill the soap dispenser with extra automatic dishwasher soap or with something else? If it is just automatic dishwashing soap then maybe run the cycle with no dishes in it on heavy wash. Now if he filled it with regular dishwashing soap clean out as much of it as you can then run the washer without dishes. If you leave regular soap in there your kitchen will be filled with bubbles.

Dishwasher soap dispenser won't open during cycle

I had the same problem with my GE Adora. The dishes were getting cloudy and the soap dispenser would not open. Turns out the hard water deposits were causing the soap dispenser to stick shut. I purchased and used Dishwasher Magic which is a dishwasher cleaner designed to remove limescale, rust and buildup. I used as directed and now my dishes are sparkling and the soap dispenser pops right open.
