I need instructions on how to thread it properly.

I have a very old model sewing machine and am have issues getting it to work properly. I was wondering if it would be possible to find out how it is supposed to be threaded, as I think that this may be the problem. Can you help me? It says ABC Lifetime and Automatic Zig Zag Super Deluxe and Made in Japan on it, but I can't find any more info. on it.

If you can supply a photo (or photos) of your machine (specifically the left front and left sides, where the threading typically takes place), I would likely be able to guide you through the threading process.

If you can give me until late tomorrow (or early Friday), I am sure I can help you with making sure you are threading your machine proplerly (I need to fetch a couple of owner's manuals that are not located here at my house). Your machine is very much of a "generic variety" that were produced in the 1960's and 70's, many of which had the very same threading characteristics.

Best regards,

Dave

Even though the following is not your particular model, the process is very similar from one machine to another, so what you aren't able to get from the above links, you may get from these. Be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread so the thread will seat properly.

Check that you are installing the needle correctly, that the machine is threaded properly. Use only fresh, good quality thread--no bargain bin or old thread. Be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread. Check that the bobbin is loaded and threaded correctly. Make sure the feed dogs are up and the stitch length is set to at least #2. If you are still having problems, it could need some adjustment.

You probably already have some documentation, but if not, here are some:

White sewing Machine model 1418 (not your model, but most machines thread very much the same)

When threading the machine, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot during the threading process. This releases the tension disk so the thread will seat properly.

My serger is still not working properly trhread still breaking lower and upper

Generally, thread breakage is due to incorrect threading, threaded out of order, tension too tight, or the threads are looping or hanging up on their way through the thread path. Be sure to remove ALL the threads from the machine and RAISE the presser foot while threading. Give each thread an extra little tug when going through the thread tensioners to make sure they are seated all the way. Consult the owner's manual to verify the thread paths are correct and the threads are threaded in the specified order. (If not threaded in the proper order, the serger will most likely never work satisfactorily.) Perhaps changing thread brands will help--and avoid old or bargain bin threads. Set the tension guides to the midway point between high & low numbers before testing.

If there continue to be issues, the timing may be off or a looper may be bent. Take it for service.

How to thread an old Montgomery Ward sewing machine model 30 ? e

Search the internet for your machine make & model & threading instructions. You may not find your exact machine, but a lot of similar machines will have the same threading sequence.

Just a hint: be sure to RAISE the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread so the tension disk will allow the thread to seat properly.

I just got my new brother sewing machine and got it set up last night and have not got it working yet. I expected it to sew with no problems. I need help but can't seem to find it help on customer...

Have you read through the sewing machine manual firstly and gone through the threading up and bobbin winding instructions carefully?

It is important to wind the bobbin properly, get it into the bobbin case and the thread under tension and to thread the top of the machine correctly as per your manual.

It would be very unlikely that a brand new machine shipped with a fault, they even test sew new machines and leave the sample under the foot usually (or the good quality ones did) so perhaps its just a case of going back to the manual and going through the steps again.

I do hope that you sort out the issue (you don't actually say what is wrong or what model so difficult to be more help I'm sorry??)

Thread is going on cutting.

you do need to provide more details.  start here - get a fresh spool of high quality all purpose thread such as Coats and Clarks or Metrosene thread, fill a fresh bobbin, install a new size 11 needle.  Follow the threading instructions even if you've threaded the machine a million times, read the instructions again.  try sewing on some basic cotton fabric.  You'll be able to determine if it's the machine.  Breaking thread can be the thread (it does get too old and fragile), the needle, the incorrect needle for the fabric, the wrong thread for the fabric, and a host of other things.  So try that and tell us more if that doesn't work.
