CAN U HELP ME BY TELLING ME HOW TO SECURE MY NEW WIRELESS GATEWAY ROUTER

you need to get into the settings of the router. Open your web browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 and press enter. This should bring up your router page. The user name and password will probably be admin and admin or it could be admin and password. You then need to go through the settings to find where to put the password in and save the changes.

D-Link wireless router forgot password how may I recover or assign a new one

Hi there,

A wireless router password wont be recovered unless you still have the password you can enter or if the router is unmanaged without an admin password.

another option would be resetting your router to be able to get through the router and assign a new password.

here's how: you need to directly connect your computer or laptop wired going to your router not using a wireless one. then reset, make a new network configuration and put your admin password later. dont forget to backup your router config. in a folder together with your password so the nextime you forgot any thing or change anything. just look back to your folder where you put your backup config. and password.

My new netbook won't accept my seven letter password on my linksys-G Home router. It's asking for 9 letter password which i don't have. please help

A linksys router password should contain at least 8 different characters. You have to put one or more character to change or put your password as authentication. If you have a further query then let me know. Thanks for using FixYa.

Putting a password on my router , pls help

If you are referring to put a custom password for the router itself.

1. open up your browser
2. put in the url -> http://192.168.1.1
3. a username and password prompt appears: input just the password (which is "admin")
4. go to the administration tab
5. input your new password twice.

My internet connection via the router (d-link DI-524) have slowed down. how do i reset settings or put a password?

Maybe you have an open WiFi (no password wireless) and anyboby near can connect to your router and download files, this can slow down your Internet connection. To put a password to your wireless network, enter setup preferably by a wired connection to router, in your browser type the default IP address of it (http://192.168.0.1), the user is admin and its password must be left blank (default settings), at the Home tab go directly to Wireless option since you'll only change your WiFi from unsecure to secure, there you can choose the security type, WPA is recommended, after select it you can put the new Key (password) of your WiFi, and finally apply to get changes working, just remember that after this procedure, you'll have to enter the password in each new wireless connection to your router.

Trying to connect my kindle to my linksys router, keeps asking for a password.

This is going to be the password that you setup your router with. If you cant remember the password you can reset your router and put in a new password.

I want to put a new password into my linksys. I

Upon typing the address of your linksys router (usually by default it is 192.168.0.1) your default Username and Password Admin:admin or Admin:password (depends on the model). Then, when you are able to view your router's control panel, click on "Administration" tab. From there type in your new password and confirm it by re typing. Click "Save Changes" button to apply the new password.

Have you tried resetting the router back to factory settings using the small hole in the rear? This will default it back as it was when you first got it.After doing this you would have to put all your original settings back into it though.
