I have a Acer AcerNote Light laptop and when I go to turn it on it says CMOS battery bad. WHat does this mean how do I fix it

this means that the cr2032 a small disc shaped battery on the motherboard that keeps all the motherboard, time and date settings requires changing.
You will have to remove the underside panels to see where the battery is located on the motherboard.

Acer TravelMate 225X solution:
The battery type CR2032 (Lithium, 3V, 20mm/3.2mm) is the same as mentioned in solution #1 but you must use a cell with connected wires and a 3-pin connector. It is hard to buy. A workaround is (1) to use the battery with connected tabs or (2) the battery holder (maybe BH1060 or similar). Original wire and connector from old battery must be cut out and soldered to new battery tabs or holder pins. Remember polarity - note the wire colors.
The battery position is under keyboard in the central position between the PCMCIA slot and the CD-ROM slot. Remove the strip cover near the display, slide the keyboard in the direction of display and lift it up.
