I have a sharp television bought brand new in 1997 - model# 32js400, 32" PIP. when we bought it we programmed it to only show approximately 8 different channels. now we no longer have the remote and cannot get another remote to pull up the menu channel so we can scan through and add the remaining channels back on it. do you have a solution or remote code for this tv?
I had the same problem. I bought the Anderic Remote RM-Y133A, and I was able to auto-program and perform a lot of other tasks that I couldn't access previously. The only problem is that I cannot access closed caption.
The remote was only about $15.00 plus shipping, and it was worth the price. I bought it on eBay. I'm pretty sure there are a lot more available.
Should be able to go through on the tv unit itself to auto search the channels, i've done in numerous times for friends in dorms who lose their remotes or don't know how to reprogram for the new cable channels. it should be on the tv by the channels and volume buttons.

PIP or picture in picture works in two ways with the original remote--new sets with this actually have two tuners in them, one for main picture and one for PIP picture, you can change channels in both, swap the PIP to the main picture or even have both side by side.
Sure its got the PIP? what is brand and model number ?

Some television remote controls have a PIP OFF button, while others only have a PIP button that needs to be pressed repeatedly until the PIP/Twin-View window disappears.
Some Sony rear projection televisions have a FLASH FOCUS button that will turn off the PIP/Twin-View feature.
Some Sony universal remote controls, if programmed to operate a Sony TV, can disable the PIP/Twin-View feature by pressing the REC or ENT button.
If the original TV remote control is not available or is not functioning properly, auto programming the television tuner orperforming a power reset may deactivate the PIP/Twin-View feature.
If pressing the appropriate buttons on the TV remote control does not work, then the PIP/Twin-View window might be from a two-tuner cable or satellite set-top box. If this is the case, use the remote control provided with the set-top box to remove the PIP/Twin-View window.
Hi there. I hope you will see this reply. I bought one of these TV's yesterday and I've got the code from my dad's website www.satcure.net
If your remote is Version 6 then you will be able to follow the help on the sky box under Interactive Customer service Program Remote
Then follow the steps using code 1221
If you have a Revolution 8 remote then you will have an easier job but with a 3 digit code.
3 digit code is 253
TO PROGRAM THE remote USING THE 3 DIGIT CODE: 1. Turn
on the TV receiver 2. Press TV on the Sky Remote Control 3.
Hold down SELECT and the RED buttons together for approximately two
seconds, until the RED LED on the Sky remote blinks twice. 4.
Enter three digit code from list for the receiver (early versions now
flash twice). 5. Press select to enter code structure (the LED
will flash twice if a valid code has been entered). 6. Now press
the STDBY button and test other functions.
You don't. A good "universal remote" available from Radio Shack (Phillips) for about $15 will provide access to all TV adjustments. Easy to program for all TV models, VCR's, DVD players, etc. About $35 + S&H for the Sharp remote replacement.
