Re: firelite wont mount on my computer

Look at its format, (NTFS) or (FAT32)? and check the DRIVER for the hdd to see if it has any complications or errors, this is easyest fixed by deleting the HDD driver in Device managment and then restarting the computer. good luck.

My firelite use to show up as firelite, now it showing up as the d drive and wont open. Its also asking me to format it in order to open, what should i do?

Junk it - the controller inside it has failed and the pc no longer recognizes it as a external disk and that is unfixable.

IMac won't recognize firelite external disk

Try to connect it to another computer (Mac or PC).

Disasemble the case, and remove the disk-drive.
Connect the disk-drive as a "slave" in some other desktop computer, and see if the drive is "detected", and if your files/directories are visible.

MacBook won't recognize my Lacie Rugged Hard Disk. Disk utility will see it but won't verify it nor will it repair it. says it needs to be reformatted yet it won't even let me initialize it. it is brand...

Is your MacBook as fast as the Lacie Rugged Hard Disk is?

Because solid state drive wasn't available on MacBook Pro at the initial time when it launched. Hard drives on all current Apple laptops are equipped with Sudden Motion Sensor technology. In fact, the Apple laptops that came with Sudden Motion Sensor are: All Intel-based Apple portables such as the MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, PowerBook G4 computers starting with PowerBook G4 (12-inch 1.5GHz), PowerBook G4 (15-inch 1.67/1.5GHz), PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.67GHz), and iBook G4 computers starting with iBook G4 (Mid 2005) have Sudden Motion Sensor technology. You MacBook may not have come with that technology that could be the reason you are unable to connect it.

Sorry mate... too many limitations on

MY Apple computer all of a sudden is not recognizing my 160GB Firelite. It has power but when plugged in the icon won't appear on the desktop and I can't access the drive? Was working earlier in the day.

Try going to utilities in the applications folder, in utilities select disk utility and see if the drive shows up, if so select repair disk after selecting the SmartDisk. If not showing select your hard drive and run repair permissions and see if it helps. Failing this you need a 3rd party disk repair solution like DiskWarrior. The information is still there!

PowerBook G4 does not seem to recognize. (Worked well on previous Apple lap top)

If your Firelite SmartDisk was formatted for a PC, and you are using the Mac side of the G4 it won't. They use a different format scheme. Need to load Parallel, bootcamp, or another virtual PC program, and then Windows. Using that it will recognize it.

If you know another Mac user that is using both sides (Mac and Virtual PC) is a quick way to retrieve data to move it. Be careful reformatting the FireLite. There are some more complex ways. Hope that this helps.

PS: I use a 160GB FireLite on my G4, MacBook Pro as well as my Tower and notebook PCs.

Firelite 60 GB Hard drive

Try hooking this drive up to another PC, if it works on the other PC, then you atleast no it works. If it does work on the other PC the problem is with your PC! You may need to install drivers! Sometimes updated firmware for these devices make them more stable. Company just do not tell people!

My mac computer do not reades or recognize my external hard drive 60GB smartdisk from firelite

well. Open Disk Utility in the Applications folder under Utilities and see if it shows up and possibly mount it from there. Also open the System Profilier (also in the utilities folder) and check under USB - if that's how it's connected.
