Time for a video card upgrade. You are now two (almost 3) generations of video cards behind. If you are truly referring to a VooDoo card, you definitely need to upgrade to something newer. If the game you are trying to play says you must have a DirectX 9.0c compatible card, you will need to get a new video card. The good news is that just about any card you can buy new would be at least DirectX 9c compatible. The bad news is, I am guessing your card is PCI card. That being the case, you will be hard pressed to find a new one for sale.
However, you will find it difficult to get support on this old card. I suggest investing in a new one. Just keep in mind AGP or PCI. See the picture below for a visual representation of the difference. If you have an AGP port (should be brown) on your motherboard, you really should use it, you will notice a marked difference in video response times vs. PCI. PCIe/PCIEx/PCI Express is only going to be found on newer computers, however, the visual representation here shows the difference between PCI and AGP. Note how the connections are stacked on the AGP card.
Hi, graphics cards do heat up and newer cards generate even more heat. No need to replace it if it is working fine for you. Just clean it up occasionally by removing the accumulated dust on the heat sink and the fan. Compressed air works well.
This small procedure will extend the life of your graphics card.
