Hi guys, seems like my pc is not well. I have sorted out the dual boot problem I had with Xp and Vista. I reinstalled the Vista. When I restart or shut down in vista all is fine, just one issue
1)I installed xp on c drive and vista on d drive. when I'm in xp i can see all my xp stuff in c drive and all the vista stuff on d drive. when i'm in vista all my vista stuff is on the c drive and my xp stuff on the d drive???????????
My other problem is when I'm in xp and I shut down the pc all is fine but when I restart I get to error messages which I click ok or cancel and the pc just hangs then, it doesn't restart and these errors keep popping up.
1) DWWIN.exe dll application failed to start because windows station is shutting down
2) drwtsn.exe dll application failed to start because windows station is shutting down
I went back into Xp and selected both these programs from Xp's i386 folder via tune up utilities to start when the pc starts up but I still get the same error?
What's going on guys?????
That was before I did some troubleshooting below is what's going on going on now....
i went to dr watson's log file and found that there were errors on my NFS Pro Street.exe file, my internet explorer.exe and my dotnetfix1.1.exe file. I uninstalled all of them en reinstalled all of them except Pro Street and the problem persisted. I deleted dr watson log file and after several restarts I got a new log file stating a error in my ActiveSync(for my HTC Phone). By then I just gave up.
Also I notice that my username's documents in My Computer is not showing but all my files can be accessed using Windows explorer. I disabled all the things you said I had to but no luck?
Is there perhaps a massive malware/spyware/virus that my AVG is not picking up and if so what free anti-virus can I use right now to check if there is any virus?
Hi,
As far as Free Antivirus is concerned, you can download Avira from http://www.free-av.com/ It has the highest detection rates & also extremely light on the system.
Looks as if there might be some malware running and also some error with the XP+Vista installation(C,D drive problem). Also, are you able to download updates from microsoft or openhttp://update.microsoft.com . Inability to open the update site or to download updates is one of the sure signs of malware infection.
Good, so go ahead & download/update Avira & do a full system scan. Let's see how it goes then.
Yes
Hi,
That's good. You mentioned you have no problem whatsoever with Vista installation. In XP there's a restart issue. It seems your XP installation has been damaged & needs to be repaired. Do you have the XP CD with you, if yes then you should go ahead & repair XP.
