Question about ViewSonic VX2245WM LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Flickering Moniter I got this moniter for christmas '06 and things have been working fine until tonight (10/09/07). I am not sure if it is my video card on the fritz or what. I have two monitors set up and each are running through differnt ports of my computer. Only my viewsonic moniter is the one that is flickering on and off, not the other one. I tried updating drivers for both the video card and the monitor and that didn't help. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers but that didn't work either. I don't want to lose my dual monitor set up. I am sure if i move my plug from the RGB port to the regular video output it would work since my smaller monitor is in the regular video output and it hasn't flickered. Is this a monitor issue or a video card issue? I am pretty frustrated. Thanks! -Tracy

My new 24" AOC LED

The problem may be your computer, plug a spare monitor in the desktop, if you see the same issue, it is the Video Graphics Card in the computer that is causing the problem. However if it turns out the spare monitor is fine, it is your new monitor that has the issues and should be returned for exchange.

Moniter is flickering, just bought a new video card, have had the moniter for over 2 years , any solution?

You can disassemble it check it for bad capacitors. Other than that you can check on ebay to see if anyone is selling the boards for that model. Sometimes you get lucky and find someone that has the same model with a broken screen.

Moniter is only shows self test e173fpc

It sounds like your video card may be kaput. Can you try another monitor on it? If you use a monitor that you know works, and it does the same thing - then your video card has failed.

Alternately, you can try a different card and the same monitor.

Does the led on front of the monitor stay blue or does it become amber ?
If it becomes amber, then you are not getting a signal.
No harm in trying this : You can try to see if it is a contact problem.
With the monitor unplugged.
Use a small paper clip to run in and out of the blue vga plug holes a few times each to make sure they are not plugged or gummed up.
If that doesn't help and you know that your video cord is good, then I am afraid to say that more than likely there is a problem with yor video card.

If it stays blue then the signal is there but the screen isn't fully lighting up, leading to a failing power-inverter board or a bad bulb.

Get Moniter Speakers Working

Hello First of all you need a sound card on your computer with a Spk. (Speaker) or Phones (headphones) Out Jack it might be a symbol of a small speaker or headphones. You have to be sure you are getting a actual sound output signal from this sound card too. If the sound card is not working your moniter speakers would not have a signal to drive it. You also need a 1/8" Stereo 2 male stereo plugs on both ends, one end plugs in back of moniter other plugs in back of computer like I mentiond above. Make sure your Mute button is not selected on your computers volume button usally at bottom right of screen. Make sure the volume buttons are up to aprox 3/4 up also. Then for last on the moniter look in the menu i think you might have to keep pressing the menu button but i kind of forget now but its a Spk setting and volume setting in this speaker setup within the moniter as well make sure this is turned on and set at a higher volume level as well. Thats about all I can say without taking the moniter apart and checking the jack and wires and speakers. I would suggest you take it to a electronics or a tv repair or computer repair person to go any further then this. Hope you take time to read all of this I tried to put every step in here to help anyone out with this problem. Thanks for reading. Ken T
