Re: I got it for home

Sounds much like it is wired for a system other than where you live {or country of origin of the product} to make it a basic phone to work would not be a great shake, to get full functionality would no-doubt it has a circuit board inside to deal with other function.....

Did you do something stupid like program over the top of the buttons? Press PROGRAM and, starting from the bottom press a button, then dial 0 01 STORE Move up the line and press 0 02 STORE etc. Do that for however many lines you have and it puts the lines back into the Single-CO sequence that you probably started with. (PROGRAM is done from an idle phone and you press PROGRAM to exit).

Caller id not working on only 1 phone

It's a good bet that that telephone doesn't ring therefore the system won't pass on the caller id information.
Changing ringing on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
Next press the left hand intercom twice
The display should say system programming

Press the right hand intercom once. The display should say Centralized Programming.

Enter in the extension number that you want to program.

Press the line that you want to ring.
A solid light on the line means immediate ringing
A slow flashing light means delayed ringing (meaning the phone will wait 3 rings before starting to ring.)
A fast flashing light means no ringing.

When finished with that station press the right hand intercom and enter in the next extension to program and set ringing accordingly.

Press feature "00" to logout

Programming issues

I think you ought to start with the proper manual and a proper phone.

The XE series systems were made in the 90's, about 5 or 6 years after your 616x. They took advantage of the new phones, with display, and the 66xx and 67xx series sets. Your 616 uses the 64xx and old 35xx sets. So, which phones are you using? Start on page 47 of this manual and make sure you program the ports on pdf page 58 (pgm 61) according to the phone types you have. Once you properly define the pones, everything will start to behave.

I have a used Nortel Networks T7316E and for some reason when I plug it in to the phone line at home I get no dial tone and the light at the top and the three buttons on the bottom (headset)(Mute) etc......

The Nortel 7316 set is propriatary which requires the nortel system in qrder to work., The pulsing lights are the set reacting to the standard line voltage. In order for it to work in your house you'll have to install the nortel phone cabinetand then attach the set(s) to it.

I am buyind a gn2020 headset with amp I am looking for the code

you need to program headset keys on the phones if you have headset jacks on them. This is done in key data memory block 4-12 for each phone and than choose which LK(line key) once on the right line key hit the line keys on the phone and you will see different thigs like CO, FA, ICM, just hit them all till you see headset. Transfer key writes the data and the recall key turns the pages so the line keys will say something different. or call tech support

Meridan 7208 help please

Dear sheryl498,

Your phone is designed for a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) unit like the Compact ICS or the 6x16 TCU that was at the office. It is not compatible with regular POTS lines or standard home lines.
