I guess that is the problem, I would have to do something from inside and that is too much. If you get to find out a way of making it work please let me know.

    thanks

    Mochoa,

The issue is the Mitel 420 is a (digital phone) DNI set and MUST be plugged into a port on a Mitel PBX or ICP for it to work. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad new but there is no way to make this phone work at home.

Sounds much like it is wired for a system other than where you live {or country of origin of the product} to make it a basic phone to work would not be a great shake, to get full functionality would no-doubt it has a circuit board inside to deal with other function.....

If I'm understanding right, you are plugging in a regular "residential" phone into a phone system jack. The system phones work differently than home phones and you won't get a dial tone out of the jack unless you use a system phone.

From the idle phone press PROGRAM line 1's button and dial 0 1 STORE. That puts line 1 back under the button.

Press PROGRAM or pick up the handset and set it back down to exit programming.

Did you do something stupid like program over the top of the buttons? Press PROGRAM and, starting from the bottom press a button, then dial 0 01 STORE Move up the line and press 0 02 STORE etc. Do that for however many lines you have and it puts the lines back into the Single-CO sequence that you probably started with. (PROGRAM is done from an idle phone and you press PROGRAM to exit).

Caller id not working on only 1 phone

It's a good bet that that telephone doesn't ring therefore the system won't pass on the caller id information.
Changing ringing on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
Next press the left hand intercom twice
The display should say system programming

Press the right hand intercom once. The display should say Centralized Programming.

Enter in the extension number that you want to program.

Press the line that you want to ring.
A solid light on the line means immediate ringing
A slow flashing light means delayed ringing (meaning the phone will wait 3 rings before starting to ring.)
A fast flashing light means no ringing.

When finished with that station press the right hand intercom and enter in the next extension to program and set ringing accordingly.

Press feature "00" to logout

Programming issues

I think you ought to start with the proper manual and a proper phone.

The XE series systems were made in the 90's, about 5 or 6 years after your 616x. They took advantage of the new phones, with display, and the 66xx and 67xx series sets. Your 616 uses the 64xx and old 35xx sets. So, which phones are you using? Start on page 47 of this manual http://public.carl.airpost.net/Comdial/Executech%20XE%20System%20Manual.pdf and make sure you program the ports on pdf page 58 (pgm 61) according to the phone types you have. Once you properly define the pones, everything will start to behave.

Yes, there is programming which would need to be removed. However, you would need a cisco call manager($800) at home. Unless of course you have voip in your home. then you could just set it to DHCP I'm assuming and then it should just work!

Wont let go of the phone line

have your monitoring facility remotely connect to your unit and check the programing. also you need a standard potts (analog) phone line, not a voip, cable company or uverse line.
