You can uninstall these setting in device manager. Just delete them. Be careful though!

It sounds like you found a solution elsewhere because you didn't reply to the three people who asked for more information.

You can close this problem if you wish to by saying YES.

I have a wireless router, my vista laptop is upstairs in my room, my wireless network connection is working. but the "local area connection" says that there is a network cable unplugged. but i have...

"local area connection" is the wired connection, which in your case is "unplugged" If you go to control panel and look in connections, you will see that you are connected with the wireless, if you right click on the wireless there is a checkbox to display the status on your toolbar along side of the "Local Area Connection" Hope that clears it up a little

Wired nor wireless connections for my ps3 wont work

if you setup your wireless in adhoc mode like useing the pc wirless it wont work because ps3 doesnt see adhoc wireless.

and for the ethernet connection is the pc setup right. you have to enable internet sharing on the accuall interface that has internet..
If local area connection 1 is connected to internet and local area connection 2 is plugged into ps3 then under local area connection 1 settings you have to set share this connection and in the drop down menu select local area connection 2. other than that you need to buy a router.

Network Connections missing icon. Plus others problems.

XP tags "Local Area Connection #" with your Network Adapter. If you have a built-in LAN, it will take Local Area Conn 1" and when you disabled it and plugged in a new network adapter, it will be named Local Area Conn 2 and so on in that pattern. Your Local Area Connection will only be back when you plug the original Network adapter that XP tagged as Local Area Connection. It is not "variable" where you can choose how to name it.

What is a local Area connection? My laptop doesn't work, but my desktop does?

Local area connection is the wired network interface card on the computer. On a laptop you'll see the port on the side or back. If you have a internet cable conencted to the port you'll be able to access internet on a wired conenction. Most likely you are conencted wirelessly on the laptop so it shows the local area connection disconnected.

If it says that your local area connection is unplugged then you cant have a cable plugged into the ethernet socket on your pc into a router or there is a break in the cable.
