Audio issue with Sony Bravia tv

I bought a new Sony Bravia "40 flat panel TV recently and a couple of months later, there is an audio 'snapping' problem. It started out with just a few audio popping noises occasionally. Now, the episodic frequency has increased. The popping noises will occur for 10 minutes or sometimes an hour, then stop. Some tech guy suggested that it might have something to do with the power strip. I am not a technical person, I really need to know how to correct this aggravating popping noise on an otherwise nice Sony HD LCD TV. Any assistance is very appreciated!

We also have the same problem with a Sony Bravia hdtv only a few months old

  • Anonymous Nov 16, 2007

Same problem. If anyone has a solution please advise.

We have had this same problem since we had the tv. We have had multiple cable boxes so far which seems to fix the problem when we get a new one, but eventually the noise returns. I don't know what causes this problem, maybe the tv is the root of the problem.

I have the same problem. I have only had the television for 5 months and can't figure out why it just suddenly started.

We bought the Bravia KDL-40V2500 in July and tonight the crackling sound started. Is there no solution?

  • BillFWTX Dec 22, 2007

Yes we have the same popping or crackling audio issue with our Sony Bravia 40-inch LCD. It started when it was about six months old and does it sometimes but not at others. Any solution is appreciated.

I have observed the below issues as well with brand new TV set which was bought in Nov 2013.

1 TV goes for switch off and automatically switches on in few seconds, The issue is intermittent and seen more than 10 times till now.
2 Audio suddenly goes to mute mode and unless I switch off and on the TV, sound is not coming, seen 3 to 4 times
    3. Black Line seen on TV panel, this seems to be issue with TV panel and agreed to replace the same.

I am completely upset with the above said problems with 5-months old TV which is used sparingly and not able to digest to see a such a product from Sony.
I believe that Sony makes good products and release after through testing.

I would like to get a new TV instead of replacing parts of it. Please let me know what has to be done to get the new TV.

I had this problem and what I think caused mine was that I had a wireless modem in the house. The reason I think it was the modem was that the clicking sound and my modem stopped working at the same time. I think the two were related....either way...no modem but more importantly no more clicking.

Hope this helps

I have the same problem. Mine is about a year old. It seems to be clearly coming from the speakers. When I turn the volume down. The popping/clicking/snapping noise lowers with it.

Sony bravia kdl-46z4100 is 18 months old. TV speakers quit working. can they be replaced easily, or does a repairman have to be called.

Try the tv unplug, replug it back an hour later. The tv now, resetting back to factory setting.Go to tv Menu.Goto AUDIO setting,go down to reset, the Tuner board is now resetting. The tv should have sound now.Not than, the Tuner board have problems. Not the speakers, yes call the repairman. It'll cost half the price of a new tv.

40" Sony Bravia has intermittent audio failure.

I have a KDL-46VL130 with the same problems. Audio on the HDMI connection turns on and off intermittently when I have it connected with my ATT Uverse rcvr. I check w/ Sony online support and they led through the standard troubleshooting process ... which I knew going in would not fix the problem. Ultimately they told me to try a new HDMI cable first, or try a different video source for the HDMI, other than my ATT U-Verse reciever and see if the problem persists. Having seen other articles on this issue, i am almost certain that is not going to fix the problem... and to think that I paid $2000 for this thing.

My SOny Bravia 40 inch LCD TV has a vertical line

Hi,

It could be 1 of 4 things:
1. One of the ribbon cables has worked itself loose (Simple Fix)
2. One of the assembly boards maybe faulty
3. The driver board which feeds the panel maybe faulty
4. The panel is faulty

The driver board in the UK costs approx £70 and approx £35-70 to fit it if this is the fault.

All other parts are between £80-160 and approx £35-70 to fit it if this is the fault.

The panel will cost approx 50-75% of what the TV was worth when you bought it - "Repair versus Replacement"

Thanks
