Question about SanDisk Sansa m230 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Downloading files from mp3 players

I'm new at mp3 players and don't know what I'm doing. I got an mp3 player (SanDisk m230) from my daughter and its full of music files already, and I want to transfer them from the player to my computer for use by Windows Media Player. I'm not even sure if I can do this as the computer seems to not be able to see the files that I know are there. Does anyone have an explanation of what's going on and if there is a remedy?

It took me a little while to figure out exactly what you were talking about, but now I've found it, changed the setting, and the music files came up.  I've now been able to back up the files and re-format the player.  Thank you very much for the solution and God bless you!!

If the files are not on the PC, Windows Media Player will not see them. You can manually manage the music from My Computer. Double-click on the device name Sansa m230 and you can see the files and folder. You can just drag and drop these onto your computer to save them. You might also want to format the device to remove everything and give you a clean slate. Right Click on Sansa m230 and select format. Best of Luck.

Try changing the mode on the device.

If the mode was changed then the files would not be visible.

    Best of Luck.

Sansa m230 not syncing music files or downloading them. Process leaves the Sansa m230 with 0 files and i am finding it impossible to load new file(s) ?

Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings. Then add music this way and see if it is works: 1. Free a USB port on your desktop computer. Now, grab the USB cable for your SanDisk Sansa MP3 player and connect the player to your computer. 2. Wait for your computer to find and recognize the player. This may take a few moments. Once you receive a confirmation message, open your computer and scan the icons for the SanDisk MP3 player. 3. Open the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player on your computer. The music files that you currently have saved to the player?s memory are displayed. 4. Open a folder containing music files that is stored in your desktop computer?s memory. Scan the files for songs that you want to transfer to the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player. 5. Left-click on a song file and drag to the SanDisk Sansa window. Drop the file and let your computer complete the transfer. The transferred file appears at the bottom of your music list. 6. Unplug your SanDisk Sansa player from your computer. Turn the player on and allow the file transfer to update to the internal memory of the MP3 player.

Downloading from youtube

No - because the video is not in a format that the player recognizes. Sorry. If you had a model that played video files as well, you could do it - but not on this one.

Sansa says full but there is no files located....

You should format the device thru My Computer, rather than Windows Media Player.

FORMAT: My Computer>Device Name (m230)>Right Click and select format.

This will erase everything on the device and you can start anew.

Best of Luck.
