Two things come to mind for this problem. First try pushing down firmly on both ends of the black rubber platen roller. Sometimes the black plastic latch on either side may break causing one side of the roller to lift up causing partial print. The other possibility is the ribbon is not lifting correctly. A technician can adjust the ribbon lift. After typing a few letters, take the ribbon out and look at the letters on the ribbon. Are they in the middle of the ribbon or are they at the top or bottom of the ribbon? middle of ribbon is correct.
No, the printwheels are the same for all Wheelwriters. Make sure the letters face the roller when you put it in (pull the print hammer assy back and check for paper clips, ribbon pieces, etc. first).
On the left side are 3 keys, Store, Play nad Del. To store Hold store, type an address 01-99, type info, press store again. To print hold plat and type address. Delete works the same way. You can download a manual at lexmark.com, click on support.
The l. row of keys say save play and delete, hold the save and press 01 to 99 as an address release and type when finished press save again, To play use the same procedure with the play key.
