Question about Lexmark Z645 InkJet Photo Printer

Printer Problem I have a Lexmark Z645. After I put in a new black ink cartridge, My pages print with a bold sentence then a light sentence...Can you help me?

You should go to your LEXMARK solutions center either on your desktop or in your start menue and open the maintenance program and run the alignment. select the best arrows and enter them where indicated. this should help clear up your problem with a new cartridge

Doing the "clean printhead/cartridge nozzles" multiple times would have cleared clogged nozzles. You can also try to manually wipe the cartridge nozzles with a slightly moistened soft cloth. If that still won't help, try to replace your cartridge with a different known working cartridge to determine if your other cartridge is faulty.

The Lexmark Z645 will only print blue, yellow and black

Hello. The nozzles of the color cartridge may need cleaning since it's doing the same thing on two different printers. Here's an article in the Lexmark website on how to properly clean the nozzles of the cartridge. Just click on this link: . If it still won't work, try your old color cartridge if you still have it and still working. If it works properly with the old cartridge, maybe you got a defective new cartridge. Hope this helps. Bold lines on Fax and Scan

A technique to improve print quality is to try and clean the cartridge nozzles. You may clean the cartridge by following the steps given below: 
1. Go to the "Lexmark solution center." This can be done by clicking on "Start," go to "Programs" and Lexmark printer group. Click on the "Lexmark Solution center." Next click on the "Maintenance" Tab.  2. Select "Clean and Fix Horizontal streaks."  Click on "Print". This will produce a printed page. 
The colors that you should see here are black, yellow, magenta (a reddish purple) and cyan (a dark sky blue). You should notice the diagonal lines above and below the solid horizontal lines. These diagonal lines should be solid from left to right with no gaps. 
If there are gaps in the lines or the print diminishes across the page, you should run the "Clean Print Nozzle" page a couple more times to try and clear it up. If you still have gaps at the top and bottom, you should "wick" the cartridges by following the steps given below: 
1. Please open the "Solution center" again and go to the "Maintenance" Tab.  2. Select "Install color/black cartridge" and remove the cartridge or cartridges from the printer.  3. Get a damp paper towel.  4. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.  5. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.  6. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.  7. Snap the cartridges back into the printer.  8. On your computer, select "Old Cartridge install."  9. Repeat the "Clean Nozzle Page" one more time. If this fails to address the problem the entire procedure may need repeating.

I know your problem. I just put in new cartridges and it will print the test page, but nothing else. Did you get an answer

After changing cartridge, printer will not print, z645?

First... check to make sure you removed the yellow tab from the new print cartridge

put the ink cartridge back into the printer

click Start
click Control Panel
open Printers and Faxes
click (or double click to open) your printer icon
click on Printer menu
click on cancel all documents

Then try printing again.
If this does not work, look in the manual that came with the printer and check out the troubleshooting section.

Lexmark X6170 Not Printing on Left Side of Paper?

If the pages printed from the printer directly comes out OK then you may need to update the driver for the printer. If the pages printed directly from the printer menu have the same problem then contact Lexmark again explaining everything you've done. If the person is still not helpful ask to speak with someone who is more able to assist you. Hopefully still under warranty.
